Question Does ATP hire outside CFIs?

Hello all,

I am currently attending a part 141 academy in Florida, but would prefer to instruct in the Atlanta area once I am finished here.

I read the information on their website about needing to work where they have availability, but I don't see anything directly related to hiring CFIs from outside ATP.

I wanted to ask here before I send them my information again, and then get marketing calls and emails from them for the next two months. . . Thanks again!

yes but it is not easy. Most likely you would have had to do at least one program with them.

I would be willing to do my Multi, CFI, CFII and MEI with them.

ATP is a Not a good cfi job. You could do much better if you are moving to Georgia. I would hit up the forum and find out what other flight schools are hiring in the area you are wanting to move to.

Agreed. Avoid ATP as a flight instructor job. The pay is incredibly poor and they do not treat their employees well.

I feel safer going through a larger flight school, at least at first. Plus I would really like to stay around the North Atlanta area. Not a great deal of options for part 141, and part 61 with some experienced competition.

I had 7 instructors during my training at ATP PDK, they all kept complaining about working there. ATP will place you where they need you, they have now 4 instructors at PDK so i would think they are getting very busy there, most students who finish the ACPP there will like to instruct in Atlanta. I think they are opening a location at RYY though.
I went to pretty much every flight school in the Atl area looking for a CFI job without any dual given, no luck. Some chief pilots toldme they had a line of cfis before me. VPC, RYY, FTY, PDK, PUJ
Got a job in TX (not ATP), put my house in Atlanta for rent, brought my wife and kid to Texas, found a nice apartment, put my kid at school here, been here for 4 months and have close to 300 hrs dual given.
No regrets

It will depend on instructor need and your perseverance
I have friends who taught there. They average a salary of $800-1000 a month and make $7 an hour for flight instruction. How is that better than a second year first officer at most airlines?

If you do enough research, there are plenty of great opportunities. I acquired well over 700 multi while flight instructing and literally made double what ATP instructors made.

I definitely wouldn't go by what you say. And I also didn't say better than "most airlines." I specifically said regional airlines. In reference to your 700 multi acquired, I'm going to go ahead and make a safe bet it wasn't accumulated faster than the rate at which the ATP instructors are accumulating that same amount of multi.
I grossed $2000 every two weeks.

I accumulated 700 MEL hours in exactly one year.

Pretty much no. With the 1500hr rule forcing ppl to have to instruct longer, there's no room for outside cfi's anymore. $2,000 RETAINER...untrue. Might gross that INCLUDING retainer & bonuses.
