I heard HPA is going to split ops for the classic course, ground school in Dallas and Sims/Checkride in Charlotte. I have asked HPA and they really didn't say why, when, or if they will be back to just the Dallas operation for the Classic. This seems less appealing to have to switch between two locations. Anyone know why they are going this route? The NG course is still all in Dallas, but costs 12 months versus 9 month of GI benefits compared to the classic.

I heard the same rumor as Jetnfast the other day from a buddy that just went through HPA. He was told split ops is likely by summer because it is harder to lease sim time from SWA...except he was told that the sim portion would be in ATL.

The Gal I talked with on the phone said it was pretty much effective immediately and they are booked until April on the Classic. I think your right, due to SWA sim training capacity. I would be curious as to when they will be full up again in Dallas.

For those curious...I called CPT and talked with Ray, who seems like a nice older gentleman. He is retired AF/Continental guy. They are in the same boat as HPA, except they will be operating wholly (Ground/Sim/Checkride) from Miami starting pretty much now. He said he didn't want to split ops like HPA is doing between Dallas/Charlotte because of the inconvenience of two locations. Pretty much sums up that SWA needs full capacity on their sims.

They're based in PHX, though they just use Alaska's 734 or 738 sims in Seattle. Plan on having a 90 day period within which to complete a home study CBT (it's not 90 days of school just a 90 day window to do about a week and a half of school at a reasonable rate at home). After you're done with that you'll head to Seattle and get one day of systems review, a written, and between 4 and 7 Sim rides (DOE in the 737).
Total cost is about $8000 or so after room and board. They have an in house examiner. They're staffed with really knowlegeable AS and US check airmen/instructors. They also do A320 (PHX) and 757/767 (DEN) ratings and have a pretty good relationship with SW, AS, and US drivers.
