Apparently the new pay scale announcement was made yesterday via an “all pilot call” but the official email has yet to be sent. In speaking with the few people I know who are still there, moral is the lowest it’s ever been and the few who were hanging around to see what the new pay scale would look like are definitely bailing now. To echo other comments, it’s hard to believe management is going backwards in a time where pilot hiring/retention is so important. Was told they were parking multiple planes due to lack of crews before the revised pay-scale so can’t imagine what this is going to do. Guess they want pilots with checkride failures and DUIs. Very sad to see what Vista has done to that place.

This sounds like NJA before the pilots….
Left that dumpster fire over a year ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Does anyone know how Management “sold” this to the pilot group or the reasons that they gave them for decreasing compensation during these unprecedented times for pilot hiring (and quitting)?!?! When they announced the move from MCC to Fort Lauderdale, I joked with several of my senior friends over there that “y’all just became a South Florida 135 operation overnight”, but we all laughed it off cause this couldn’t ever happen we thought.
This kind of reminds me of how things were at Netjets before the pilots there started playing hardball. I hope that you guys land well wherever you all end up. Good luck and hang tough!

Non compete clause?
Given the unfortunate, and avoidable events unfolding before us, and I do hope and pray that the powers that be come to their senses and right the ship, does anyone have any insight about the Non compete that we signed in our employment package? As if the exit door wasn’t swinging enough already, I believe it may be about to come off the hinges now. Not everyone is going to the airlines, and for those that are considering, or going to one of the competitors that hasn’t become XO property, is there a need to be concerned? Thoughts and comments are appreciated.

additionally, in recent departures they have made a point to emphasize that your employment with XOJET is “at will”.
“at will” works both ways.
finally, aside from PRIA doing a background check, you do not have to tell them where you are going.
I did not name the specific company in my resignation or exit interview.

Fractional alternatives
The non-compete is not enforceable, legal precedent allows for businesses to protect their proprietary business interests but ends when it prevents an employee from getting a new job. In other words if you designed proprietary software they can restrict your ability to go to a direct competitor for a period of time but if you just used the software, then you can walk out the door and work for whoever you are.

I'm still contemplating what my future holds, unfortunately it won't be XOJET. They have made it clear that it is not beneficial to stay long term. I'm still weighing LCC vs a different private charter. I know an LCC will provide a better paying career long term, but I really do like not worrying about base closures, where to live and changing schedules. I'm curious from some of the XO people if you were contemplating going to another operator who you would pick and why? I would love to hear some pros and cons for FlexJet, NetJets or Fly Exclusive.

Honestly I'm not a young guy so chasing the Legacy was never on my mind. I guess the biggest interest in an LCC for me is Allegiant, I love the idea of being home everyday, but I currently live at the beach so that is a big sacrifice. I'm not cut out for commuting so I just have to decide - do I want to be home every night or do I want to live at the beach??
