The sheer stupidity of our federal government & FAA on full display here. Probably have 10s of thousands of hours behind the controls of several multi-engine aircraft, flying all over the world. But don't you dare get in a PC-12 without first spending 10 hours in a 172 with a 300hr CFI to get your SEL.

Good point. On the other hand, I look at it as a worthwhile challenge. How serious am I about this? It's a small hurdle to have to jump to get a chance to do a type of flying I've never done. Compared to my previous job where I had to have a B737 type rating just to get an interview, a few hours in a 172 isn't much to ask.

There is very little airport sit. Mostly at the beginning of the day you will be put on Airport standby to cover the time after checkout until your first flight. If your first flight isn't until 5 or 6 PM then instead of airport standby they will pay for a 2 night stay, even though you only spent one night. As for afternoon airport standby that is also rare (but more often) but it wiil only be for an hour or 2 as it will be to cover another plane in the area until they get airborne. Normall there is very little airport sit time.

Hi there - thank you firstly to everyone who has contributed to this forum - it's been very informative reading back through all the posts on here the last couple of years and seeing how PlaneSense has evolved as an employer.
I have a question - I was wondering if anyone could provide a sample/example of what their typical 7-day schedule looks like on the PC-12? What legs you'd fly in a day, what time you start and clock off to fly these, that sort of thing. I've gone back through a lot of posts and while I can see that there is much commentary about how busy pilots can be, I'm just interested to see if there's anyone who can provide greater detail about how what the reality of a working week is and the QOL that you have while on duty.
If there's a link to someone who has already provided this info in previous pages feel free to just post that, or my apologies if I'm on the wrong thread asking the wrong questions.

Here is what I did last rotation, sal times are local. My flight time for those 9 days was 54 hours. All Hotels were Hampton Inns or Hilton Garden Inns
Day 1 OT - drove rental BWI to PHL picked up FO who airlined in from PSM then drove to MQS then 1 leg to PSM on 1200 off 1928
Day 2 - on PSM at 0651 then 5 legs to CHS off at 1741
Day 3 - on CHS 0945 then 3 legs to BNA off at 1805
Day 4 - on BNA at 0532 then 5 legs to RKD off at 1755
Day 5 - on RKD at 0758 then 5 legs to MWK off at 1720
Day 6 - on MWK at 0800 then 6 legs to SDF off at 1902 (did extra leg to swap FOs at MCO)
Day 7 - on SDF at 1122 then 2 legs to UMP off at 2254 due to night currency takeoff/landings otherwise off at 1954
Day 8 - on UMP at 1230 the 4 legs to TEB off at 2207
Day 9 OT - on TEB at 1100 then 6 legs to BWI off at 2102

The overtime was voluntary. They do send out emails, jut about evryday, requesting pilots for overtime and at the end of the month they list what days for the next month will be paid at the enhanced overtime rate for those pilots who volunteer for OT on those days. But again in all cases overtime is voluntary.
