yes they did, June of 2013. But they had enough take a voluntary buy out that they didn't need to furlough. What this also did tho was to force a lot of people to update their resume and start looking for other jobs...which I think really started the exodus out of there. Steady attrition has been the story ever since.
Culture is a very hard thing to change. Even harder thing to change is reputation once it’s built. Which is why XO went from a really promising job to go in, and get out and it hasn’t changed since. Same with JS, it is what it is, and it won’t be anything more.

Xojet is a different company from the massive furloughs (that all companies were experiencing at the time), and the VRIF. The good culture is still there. Good place to work. Shouldn't be compared to an airline. Apples and oranges.

Did you get on with Jet Suite?
If so how was the interview process, thanks in advance.
I totally understand your valid point, I am just looking at building some Jet time right now (although if instructing paid better, I would love to keep doing that for another year) and have some kind of family life for the next couple of years, then move on to regionals if 135 ops don't (no pun intended) suite me.

I would agree that XOJET is a different company and is now a pretty good place to work. I have at least 5 friends working there now. But it's dark history cannot, and should not, be forgotten.
To call what XOJET did to 1/5 of its pilot group in a single bloody day, as furloughs, layoffs, or "letting people go" negates the callousness that XOJET management exhibited toward it's pilots and are euphemisms for bloody mass terminations. There were no warnings, no offers for people to take personal leaves, voluntary resignations, etc. These pilots were blindsided 2 weeks before Christmas, without even a formal call or letter before their Company emails and Company phones quit working. I get it that it was Siegel (who was famous for slashing, burning, and bloodletting at US Airways) who oversaw this, and not current XOJET management. The fact remains that this happened and should not be forgotten. And anyone that tells me that over 1/5 of all your line pilots deserve to be terminated for cause on any given day and I will have to call the BS flag.
When a reduction in force happens at an airline, it is usually contractually mandated and done in reverse seniority order (not by a$$ issing or popularity contests). And it is usually only done as a last result after voluntary leaves and extended military leaves are offered: The classy way to do things.... Airline HR and hiring departments are used to dealing with furloughed pilots, as there have been so many. A termination is entirely different: A termination implies that there was a cause or wrong doing by the person terminated. However some part 91 and 135 flight departments know this and use this as a weapon. Since the pilots are at-will employees, they have no recourse and are at the whim of their Company. When a pilot then checks TERMINATED on an online application form, they may be automatically be filtered out by the accident/incident/terminations/DWI/failures fliters, and never even get a chance to explain to a real, live Part 121 HR person(who is used to dealing with furloughed pilots more than terminated pilots) the fact that they were not terminated for any wrongdoing and only because their 91 or 135 Company had no official furlough policy. HR Person from the shiny, more proper Part 121 world..: "OK Lear, why were you REALLY Terminated? Companies don't just terminate with out cause.. What did you do?"
When bad things are done, the wrongdoers often create euphemisms to make them sound less onerous, such as final solutions or relocations, vs. the truth of genocide or ethnic cleansing... To call what XOJET did to over 20% of its pilot group in a single day as "furloughs" is no different.
My apologies for the thread hijack.... But whenever I hear anyone mention what XOJET did as furloughs or having to "let people go", it really ruffles my feathers that the ugly truth is being covered up. Sorry again for mentioning this on a Red Stripe thread.
Best of luck and fly safe all...
