When you lose, on average, a pilot every other week, there is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. I doubt it will be, though.

I'm happy for him. They will continue to lose pilots faster than they can be replaced as long as things continue as they are. I know they recently raised pay. What the senior leadership fais to acknowledge is that the horrible schedule is what is driving guys to quit, not money. I left for about the same amount of money, but a better schedule, and thus a better quality of life.

Being short staffed is what is leading to other pilots having to pick up some slack.
Nice First Post.......when did you leave EAS?

The turnover rate is not as you mentioned. We are evaluating our schedule and looking to make positive changes. Our CP and DO are on the pilots side and working their arses off to makes this place as good as possible as we continue to grow.

First off the CP and Do are great guys and i do belive that the will work their butts off to make it a better place, as long as senior management will allow it. Senior management does not want to give pilots more than 3 days off at a time, so the loss of pilots will continue. EAS is a good company to work for but has no QOL. The turnover rate is extremely high over there.
Senior management is like any other company.....usually bean counter finance types who don't really understand the aspects of being a pilot. Changes Are coming.

Turnover rate is not as high as other companies. EAS has made many changes over the last year and are in the process of more significant changes to better QOL. How many days off would you deem acceptable? We are actively ddiscussing an 11/4 Sched right now.

Honestly the schedule is the reason I have not applied. I met the DO and CP before they moved around last year -- both seem like very good leaders. I live in an EAS base city, but work out of town 7/7. I'd love to work where I live, but 12 on the road and only home for 3 is a step back. I'd think that all the training costs associated with this retention issue would influence the bean counters.

You have 12 days availability and then 3 hard days off.
Of those 12.....you may have day trips, 2 days or 3 days and sometimes 4-6 day trips when needed.
If you are really interested in EAS.....pm me and I can give the full details.

You seem bitter about EAS. We are a company who I growing and taking deliveries of new airplanes in an industry that is in constant turmoil. We haven't furloughed and haven't taken paycuts. We know there are issues and are addressing those issues. What else can you ask for?

I can not speak to what happens prior to my hiring at EAS and I can verify what hiring/resign we had.

You said that you don't fly all 12 days of the 12 on. I talk to people who are still there who do indeed, on a fairly regular basis, fly all 12, with only a couple of nights at home. I'm also guessing that you're only flying a single aircraft at this point? Wait until you are flying 2 or 3 aircraft, you'll be gone more. When I was there, there were times I would fly 14 or 15 of a 15 day stretch. My favorite was to plan to go out for 3 or 4 days and end up not coming home for 7 or 8 followed by going right back out the next day for the remainder of your days on.
When I was there, the company line was things are going to get better, we just have to get past this rough spot. Several years later things were not better but much worse when I left. There were layoffs in 2009. 1 guy was offered his job back after a few months, another guy came back in late 2010, and 2 guys never were offered their spots back. I don't know about pay cuts, everybody was very tight lipped about money around there. As employees, we never even knew if the company was profitable or not.
Pilots who have left or gotten laid off in the last few years:
DEBE SENO JABA ANHE TOBU ANDE THBR DAMI CHPT TRFO BLWA CHKO TREG TRJA RYBR CHMO SVLE NAME COTO JUUR PACU ALDA SHKE RYKE ZARO DAMC JOFE DANE RS JEDE MH SV TV SD LEWE TABA and there are others that Im sure I cant remember.
I wouldn't say that the majority of the people who have left are bitter, just that everything there isn't as rosy as you paint the picture. Are there worse places to work? Yes without a doubt. Are there better places to work? Yes without a doubt.
