I have been here less than a year. I know of some of the people who have been fired or taken other jobs.
I am not trying to paint a picture that isn't true. I know of the changes that are and aren't in the works here. I am involved in some of them in order to better EAS as a company. I have been thru 121 commuting life, 91 corporate flying and now EAS. So far, this is the happiest I have been. I am not ignorant to problems that exist. That's why I took the base manager position in order to help the pilots here at EAS.
I am currently PIC qual'd on the 100 and 300. I have spoken in length with company about our growth and the need for more pilots and a possible change in schedule.
Some people leave with bitterness and vision of a career that doesn't exist and they will leave and chase the "dream". I am trying to put out info for guys/gals who are looking for a stable job. I am very honest with people when I talk to them about EAS. The last thing I seek to do is sells this as something it's not.

RI, how long have you worked there? I would wager less than a year. When I was in your shoes, I thought it was a great place to work. And at that point, it really wasn't that bad. But as the company added customers, they didn't add a commensurate number of crews, they just worked the existing crews harder. Which is fine for a while but after a couple of years it wears on you.
You said that you don't fly all 12 days of the 12 on. I talk to people who are still there who do indeed, on a fairly regular basis, fly all 12, with only a couple of nights at home. I'm also guessing that you're only flying a single aircraft at this point? Wait until you are flying 2 or 3 aircraft, you'll be gone more. When I was there, there were times I would fly 14 or 15 of a 15 day stretch. My favorite was to plan to go out for 3 or 4 days and end up not coming home for 7 or 8 followed by going right back out the next day for the remainder of your days on.
When I was there, the company line was things are going to get better, we just have to get past this rough spot. Several years later things were not better but much worse when I left. There were layoffs in 2009. 1 guy was offered his job back after a few months, another guy came back in late 2010, and 2 guys never were offered their spots back. I don't know about pay cuts, everybody was very tight lipped about money around there. As employees, we never even knew if the company was profitable or not.
Pilots who have left or gotten laid off in the last few years:

I wouldn't say that the majority of the people who have left are bitter, just that everything there isn't as rosy as you paint the picture. Are there worse places to work? Yes without a doubt. Are there better places to work? Yes without a doubt.

As a current employee, I will say that this place is a fine place to work. I love flying great aircraft to interesting places. The paperwork is my least favorite part about EAS. It is ridiculous. At times it makes me laugh...others cry. Just a part of the job.

As a current employee, I will say that this place is a fine place to work. I love flying great aircraft to interesting places. The paperwork is my least favorite part about EAS. It is ridiculous. At times it makes me laugh...others cry. Just a part of the job.

BUF base is as close as you can find.

We really prefer 2000TT+. EAS doesnt want to hire guys and have them sit long term in the right seat. If you get hired with too low time......it only takes longer to meet the min TT for CA.
NOW.....I said that it is a preference.......get your app in....whats the worst that can happen?
