i realize that most fractionals are 7 on 7 off or something very close to it. so lets say you start on a wednesday and end on a wednesday. how long is your schedule goin to be like this? how does the bidding work? what does the bid look like, do you just bid for what days you want to start your week i:e one pilot may bid to start his week on a tuesday and another bids to start on a monday. is it a monthly bid?
feel free to explain different companies different scheduling procedures. fractionals are starting to seem like more and more of a desire for me and still trying to figure a few things out.............

If you start on a Wednesday, you finish the next Tuesday, not Wednesday.
At CS, there is no bidding. To change your start day, you either have to find someone on the same equipment to swap with (permanently), or change to a different equipment that has different start days. Your schedule is set for as long as you stay in the same equipment.

No.
At NJA, we bid quarterly. Different aircraft have different start days. On the Citation X, the start days are Wed, Sat, or Sun. I would have to look up start days for other aircraft.
For example, if you bid and are awarded a Sunday start (this is all 7on/7off) I'm talking about......then you don't have to bid for the next quarter, if you are happy with the Sunday start day.....you will automatically get it again. If you want to switch to a Wednesday or Saturday start, you have to bid it when the next quarter comes around. When you switch start days, you have "seam days" that transition you to your new start day. These kind of stink, because you don't always get the full week off while you are transitioning to your new start day.
At the end of Jan, I am transitioning from Sat starts to a Sun start day. I will have 7on/5off, followed by 5on/5off, before I have fully transitioned to Sunday starts.
If you want the reserve schedule, you must bid it every quarter, or you will be put on a 7on/7off schedule by default.
There.....clear as mud?

that helped out alot thanks, so it seems NJ might have just a little bit more flexibility if your planning for some 2 day event or something down the road and you know it is going to fall on your week on, you can try and make sure the next bid it will be on an off week so you dont have to take a vacation for it.

We can bid for a different 7 & 7 every quarter, but that doesn't mean you'll get it- even if you are very senior. If your fleet is not growing it can be difficult to switch since you cannot bump anyone junior out of their slot and there are only so many slots per start day. The growing fleets will be a lot easier to transition.
If you need days off, they are pretty good about allowing a leave of absence here and there (unpaid) or you could just happen to get sick midtour (probably the most common way to get the odd days off).
