It should be 5 hour per calendar day. But the union summary stated "A minimum duty period credit of 5 hours has been established." I'm guessing that's the good part, and a 5 hour FDP average will come to light in the language.

The second point to consider is that you need to remain employed by said employer. If you lose your job or quit, you lose the life insurance. That may not seem like a huge deal, but it’s much better to lock in a low price on the open market with a term life policy while you are young and healthy rather than searching one at age fifty.

A great place to read more is ClarkHoward.com or pick up a kiplinger guide to personal finance.
Good info, thank you

I'm guessing you're right. I'm so sick of every facet of our world twisting/enhancing verbiage to make $h!t sound more palatable. It's crafty and deceitful, and we get enough of that from Indigo. Just freaking tell us the damn truth up front!

Aside from 5 hours per calendar day, what's the difference between the other two?

It was NOT a minimum day guarantee.

The union letter stated, “A minimum duty period credit of 5 hours has been established.”

A minimum FDP is a start, but it is not the same as a minimum day guarantee. It does not force the company to minimize 24 hour sits, at the expense of a 5 hr pay credit, as a minimum day would do. The only real forced efficiency will be to our one leg days.

Based solely on the information given in the fast read, we will still spend whole days in sub-par hotels and receive nada for compensation.

Even my previous regional had a true four hour min day.

Can I overlook the difference of a min day vs. a FDP? Sure I could. But ONLY IF I am going to be compensated in line with my peers. I can’t overlook it based on the published AIP rates.

Keep in mind that we won't actually have a minimum duty day, it's a minimum *average* duty day. A 4 day with 2 hours, 7 hours, 7 hours, and 4 hours will pay 20 hours, not 24. No biggie, right? Industry standard... just like our pay rates, retirement, LTD, reserve rules, etc.

Everybody has 12 days off for reserves, right?

Where does it say that? The email says nothing about an average.

A 4 day trip with 3 duty periods that starts late and ends with a red eye could still potentially be worth very little credit. We have several 4 day trips at spirit with only 3 duty periods and they would pay more with a 5 hour calendar day credit. The 3.5 rig will help though. While most of the 15 hour 4 days will now be worth ~ 18 hours they would have been 20 with a 5 hour calendar day.

If you guys vote this AIP in your trips will most likely all be paid on actual block or the 3.5 rig if you’re trips are anything like ours are at Spirit.

You absolutely know that's what it will be. I'll bet you $100 right now.

People who run airlines must be smarter than people who fly airplanes, it's the only thing that makes sense in all of this.
