I got an interview without attending a MTC event. It definitely happens, but it was about 2 months of waiting after applying. From what I’ve gathered, attending a MTC will garner immediate attention from the hiring department.
Just got one about 2 hrs after applying

I put in my app 2 months ago and registered to attend the MTC in September. Today I got the TBNT and to try again in six months. Do you think they would reconsider in less than one months time if I attend the MTC? I plan to go anyways but I'm just wondering if it's a shot in the dark or if they would actually reconsider

They won’t reconsider inside of 6 months but the MTC will help when it come times to reconsider you in 6 months.
And to those who have been turned down, apply again if you want. They definitely hire guys in their second interview
