The only and I mean ONLY thing that will get a new contract is empty classes and no applications. And that's after management has many discussions amongst themselves on if they actually need to have 225 planes. Absolutely no reason for them to negotiate with the pilot group if they don't need butts in seats.

Those people won’t even be a able to vote on any contract anyway.

The only reason we got our last contract was because of the exact reason i stated before. We had virtually no applications on file, no pool and needed to hire for the new planes showing up. That was the ONLY reason the company finally stopped kicking the can down the road and started negotiating. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat till we all retire.

Itll be very interesting to see how the Spirit pilots vote on their short term TA.

I suspect that this time, attrition will be the bigger issue than hiring. We have multiple streams of CFI programs to help fill classes now. However, if we again find ourselves as the lowest paid airline, I agree, the cycle will repeat.

I assume it'll pass, but with the JB TA that came out with higher pay, it's a tougher sell.
Unfortunately for us, Spirit is really our "peer group" and they are likely to accept an underwhelming agreement

Well I highly doubt they would vote yes if there wasn’t a merger brewing. That’s the mindset we need to have when the time comes.

I think that it's going to be bad for us unless they can actually get a joint Spirit/JetBlue done before us. Sounds highly unlikely to me. We are going to be stuck in a position where our "peer group" is this temporary little money grab contract.
I'm rooting for a TA vote failure
