would this affect the april new hire class?
So, no one’s class is really “cancelled”. People with CJOs and no class date will just have to wait longer for their start date, but nobody has had an already scheduled class date pulled. I just hope for the sanity of those waiting on a date that new hire classes really will start again in July. |

No. People in the upcoming classes have already gotten emails that their classes will go as scheduled. UAL hadn’t even started scheduling people into May and beyond. April 30 was the last scheduled class.

This is why they say don't take financial advice from pilots...the "ad nauseum" crowd is the same crowd that is speaking from reality. Let's put it this way...your total compensation for the year is $100. Your earnings (and this is accurate-ish) were comprised of $20 salary, $20 bonus, and $60 of stock. Would you hold onto the $60 in stock and hope the stock price increased faster than NVIDIA? Or would you sell it and put the money to work elsewhere?

Just read the negotiation update. Pardon my ignorance but is it normal for the mediator to schedule these sessions 6 weeks apart? Given theres roughly 30 sections, if we TA 2 sections per session (which we aren't even doing now) that puts us at 90 weeks, or nearly 2 years to negotiate a full TA. I really hope the union is, and remains, resolute in demanding 100% full retro. Guess we'll see how long this takes...
