Bringing an end to the argument. I’ll make up some numbers. Let’s say there’s 2000 grievances. That more than likely represents 7-10 actual language violations with some outliers. There’s 4 basic ways to close these. They legally can’t just disappear without a resolution.
Closed in favor of the union. Pretty self explanatory.
closed in favor of management. Self explanatory as well.
Withdrawn. Different ways this could happen.
part of a settlement agreement. Different ways as well.
Let’s now say there’s a TA and let’s say the language didn’t change. There’s no association group grievance. A remedy will be negotiated for anyone that has a grievance for that violation. Let’s just say that closes 300 grievances and the company pays 200k.
Let’s say there’s an association grievance and the language changes. A settlement agreement is negotiated. This could mean a remedy for everyone and/or management just agrees with our side and we get clarification on that language in the TA. You’ll see that in a TA.
rinse and repeat for the other 7-10 language violations.
Outliers. That’s why is 2 weeks and not 2 days. Let’s say there’s a reassignment that the company argues one example but it doesn’t quite fit the scenario. Same with the union. Similar example but doesn’t quite fit the scenario. The language gets clarified with a definition or another example. Depending on which way that goes will depend on the remedy paid to that grievance but more than likely there’s only 1 or 2 of those.

Despite that I'm sure it won't be the end...

There’s a reassignment one. None of the examples are quite what happened. That language will get clarified and/or an example that does capture the scenario will be created. I’m expecting the clarification to go our way and the 2 or 3 disputes get paid accordingly. Anyone that doesn’t file a dispute will get nothing. One example of what happens with outliers.

Acquiring NK would be the singled dumbest decision he could do unless it was a $1 acquisition. The amount of debt that they are carrying to the tune of a couple billion dollars would crush us. Then you could argue even for a $1 that would be stupid. They are burning over a quarter of a million dollars a quarter as well. With a $3 million holdback daily with the CC stuff yeah not a good situation to put ourselves in when we lost $70 million last quarter and have issues to figure out as well.
I’m not quite sure why guys are hellbent to this thing happening. Sitting here saying oh this would be great… Really? Explain to me how the seniority will go, or how in the world we would pay the debt even if we got it restructured. All while currently trying to get paid with our new proposal. While I feel for my buddies at NK I’m not one to push an acquisition by F9 it makes ZERO sense right now. We can’t hardly get out of our own way to make this place run let’s add some more bull to the mix maybe that’ll fix it. SMH

Seniority wouldn’t be a problem for anybody but Spirit pilots. While date of hire may help them relative seniority and career progression would crush their integration. Last I read was most junior captain will be a 2018 hire and most junior on the list will be 2023. Total bummer for that team.

Edit: and we also wouldn’t be subject to their holdback as a merged entity.
