with all the commuting I’ve done to the many bases I’ve worked out of. I always end up Watching videos downloaded for offline viewing. Netflix and all the other providers let you download them.

but, I love having WiFi for texting enroute. I don’t care about a catalogue of videos. But being able to stay in the loop with the news and texting my family. That is worth paying extra every time.

Interesting. I must be an anomaly or showing my age. I hate the seatback screens. Generally movies I don’t want to see and audio jacks that don’t work. Oh you timed a movie perfectly for a flight? Let’s stop that and listen to this pilot/FA announcement. No, I much prefer to watch on my own iPad. Preloaded and ready to go.

Again, WiFi texting? Nah. I’ll enjoy my time to myself without being disturbed. I’ve literally never logged into WiFi on a flight. The one time I tried to because of weather delays the service was too slow or didn’t work.

With that being said, some form of entertainment for our flights I feel is a must. Anything to get the passengers mind off of the problem of the day.

You and me both. I bring an actual old fashioned book. Between reading and dozing, I have zero interest in any of the tech stuff when flying, but I make noises when I get out of a chair now, so I guess I’m the next generation of old fart.

Yes, this.

Part of my original point was that IFE screens are weight. Weight means less seats (and less revenue opportunity). Wifi is relatively weightless as comparted to new seats w/ screens, less maintenance and much easier to install. If we built a customer base that knew we had reliable wifi, they would bring their own IFE and fly us more often.

Improvement really isn't that far away. A first class seat option (coming), better customer service via the app, ticket counter and at the gate (hopefully coming) and wifi (not really scheduled) would increase our customer base tremendously.

Keep in mind, for those who think NK's customers will fly us - they have 2 of the 3 things above (and still have a bad rep).

This is a pretty good summary of Spirit... They have actually been doing really well lately, regardless of their current financial situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4ccPsql2cY The very end has a little piece about us also.... lol

Also, How hard is it to get a single USB C port in the back of a seat?? Southwest did it and that + wifi would make our experience a whole lot better.

0 precent change it will be winter 2025 or even Q1 2026 for that matter. We have enough grievances that will take at least 6 months on top of getting close to the end which we are not.

That’s not how it works.

Correct. For the umteenth time it takes less than 2 weeks to clear them out once’s there’s a TA. The new agreed upon language is the driver. Until then Neither side wants to give on gray areas during negotiations.

I know you have experience w/ this...perhaps an explanation of "clearing them out" might help those that don't know.

Bringing an end to the argument. I’ll make up some numbers. Let’s say there’s 2000 grievances. That more than likely represents 7-10 actual language violations with some outliers. There’s 4 basic ways to close these. They legally can’t just disappear without a resolution.

Closed in favor of the union. Pretty self explanatory.

closed in favor of management. Self explanatory as well.

Withdrawn. Different ways this could happen.

part of a settlement agreement. Different ways as well.

Let’s now say there’s a TA and let’s say the language didn’t change. There’s no association group grievance. A remedy will be negotiated for anyone that has a grievance for that violation. Let’s just say that closes 300 grievances and the company pays 200k.

Let’s say there’s an association grievance and the language changes. A settlement agreement is negotiated. This could mean a remedy for everyone and/or management just agrees with our side and we get clarification on that language in the TA. You’ll see that in a TA.

rinse and repeat for the other 7-10 language violations.

Outliers. That’s why is 2 weeks and not 2 days. Let’s say there’s a reassignment that the company argues one example but it doesn’t quite fit the scenario. Same with the union. Similar example but doesn’t quite fit the scenario. The language gets clarified with a definition or another example. Depending on which way that goes will depend on the remedy paid to that grievance but more than likely there’s only 1 or 2 of those.
