I got a refurbished iPad air 2. My thinking was go for the newest because I think you only get a stipend for a new one in 3 years. And I don't want that coming out my own pocket when the older iPad model slows down. Apple is famous for planned obsolescence of their devices and they do it simply by pushing you an update. Great device, however my suggestion is to go for the newest model.

They do.
A slight twist is that the reimbursement is included as taxable income. In the long run, if you itemize it'll all come out in the wash. You pay tax on the reimbursement, but you deduct the cost of the iPad. This means you'll wind up getting the full reimbursement, but not really until after you file your taxes.
If you don't itemize, you won't deduct the cost of the iPad so you'll lose whatever taxes you pay on the reimbursement.
I already owned my iPad so I just kept the money with the understanding that if my iPad becomes obsolete before the next reimbursement, I'm responsible for buying a new iPad.
I've got my personal stuff combined with my Company stuff on a single iPad. I'm thinking on the next go-round I'll buy and maintain a separate iPad purely for Company business. I'll charge the battery and then just leave it in my suitcase. I'll pull it out when I get to the crew room to do any updates. I'm starting to resent the frequent admonitions to NOT rely on Company or hotel provided WiFi for updates. Seems like something they should be fixing instead of offloading on me to do with my home WiFi on my personal time.

Has anyone been hired after being in the group that was told to reapply in 6 months? I thought everyone I met during the interview process was awesome and thought for sure I would get the offer. In the end that was not the case. I am guessing I wasn't selected because they thought I would leave for more pay at the majors, to which I told them I was all about the QOL that Frontier would provide. Any thoughts or suggestions?
