It's personal preference, some people use the iPad mini, most use the full size ( as old as the iPad2).

The case is the standard Apple case with the trifold screen cover, which in my opinion is tough enough for use in the cockpit but needs a hard case to store it in between trips. A van driver managed to break the hard screen cover on my otterbox.

Training is only issuing iPad Air 2 cases. If they are like the iPad airs, they are good.

I got a refurbished iPad air 2. My thinking was go for the newest because I think you only get a stipend for a new one in 3 years. And I don't want that coming out my own pocket when the older iPad model slows down. Apple is famous for planned obsolescence of their devices and they do it simply by pushing you an update. Great device, however my suggestion is to go for the newest model.

Some guys were able to get iPad 2 cases as well, but they may have just been leftovers.

One cool thing, so far, is Frontier doesnt mandate that you run the latest OS. I'm still using 6 point something on ipad3. Works awesome.

Does Frontier reimburse or pay for the iPad when hired?
