I heard from someone (who heard from someone who heard from someone up high...the inevitable rumor chain) that hiring will stop for 5 months and upgrades will stop for 8 months this November. It seems that it has to do with lease returns and fewer aircraft coming online. Any truth to this?

That said, since then they did announce an addition two new aircraft coming to the fleet in 2016. 2 new planes should amount to about 30 new hires and 14 upgrades.

I count 13 aircraft deliveries from now through next June, so that rumor does not seem to hold water.

It isn't a rumor. It came straight from the horse's mouth per folks in class right now, as well as guys going through recurrent. New hires were told no hiring for 5 months starting December.

Better yet, I heard from a flight attendant who heard from her friend who was a flight attendant, you get the picture.

Until the most recent order was announced, we were getting 14 new planes and returning 10. Now, we are getting 16 and returning 10.
2016 will see a net gain of 6 airplanes.
A few months of no hiring seems pretty reasonable. Although now they will need to staff the two additional airplanes, it might just be a 4 month break instead of 5. Looking further into the future, we have 101 airplanes on order, so there will be a ton of hiring and upgrades. Don't let a short break in hiring get you down.
