Frontier Hiring.

Staffing PHL would not be an issue, but most pilots that take it will be post-2013 hires. Junior upgrades and a shorter commute/drive for many here would be attractive enough to make it work.
At this point I just wish they would announce any base and be done with it.

I don't think F9 could staff a PHL base with its existing pilot base. Even if you force FOs to go there to upgrade, I don't believe it would work, even as a 50 CA/50 FO base. It would be a putrid commute from DEN, plus weather, crummy transit, etc to contend with. I'll go with the flow here and put in for LAS or PHX.

I just want to clarify. I wasn't trying to start a Denver/West Coast pilots vs. the rest of the pilot group battle. Denver is and always will be the roots of our airline! Just wanted to point out that there are many pilots here now that are open to other options.

They are placing FO's in Denver like crazy from new hire classes.
I'm not sure how many they need, but I bet they will be happy to place them somewhere else, lol Looks like 20 a month are being placed in Denver.
Which brings up another question. How does it work out that we hire 25 to 30 guys a month and don't have more upgrades going on. Last VSA I saw was 1 Denver Captain. Denver is supposed to be senior, but they are dropping FO's in there like stocking a fishing pond.
Maybe preparing for a base opening, who knows.
That's a lot of guys pouring in here!

I heard thru the grapevine that the latest vacancy was due to some issue with a previously awarded captain position.
As far as all the F/Os going to DEN, it does seem like they are just stocking them up there in anticipation of opening a new base at some point. I also wonder why there aren't more upgrades. At this rate, there is no way new hires will have a 2-year upgrade.

My guess is they are stocking up on FO's some for attrition, some for a new base, and some now so when they want to upgrade later in the year when the planes start coming fast they will have the space in the sim. Upgrades take less time then a new hire to train as well.
