Advice regarding GoJet
#371
"If I don't fly there, someone else will"
"Only the first people who went to GJ are worthy of shunning"
"XXX airline said it was ok for their furloughees to go there, so I can too"
"I need to feed my family"
"I'm furloughed, so I understand how hard it is"
...these along with most of what you say is rationalization, its very debatable (as we are seeing) whether you are "thinking rationally"
It also bothers me that the pro-GJ crowd is so quick to pin the non-GJers as "angry, passionate, childish, etc". Perhaps it is because the thought rationally first and these are reactions some people have to pilots going to GJ?
Children need to be taught at a young age that they should do things for others and not be selfish, so its also debatable who the children here are.

I think you're confusing the difference between thinking rationally and rationalizing.

Is there anything, really, anything at all that suggests that ALPA furloughees should not go to GoJet? Now, before you answer that, think about the whole enchilada - mainline/regional, Mesaba hiring while Comair furloughing while flying the same pax, Republic recalling pilots to furlough Midwest pilots and replace them for a fraction of the cost, TSA/GoJet and NMB ruling and ALPA action/inaction, UAL ALPA/UAL feeders - are UAL furloughees "scabs" if they take jobs at GoJet?
Is this issue really black/white as you and purple anga make it out to be? If you really think it is, I have some fine beach front property in Yuma to sell you.
Back when GoJet was in its infancy, I thought it was pretty black and white. Now? It's just another POS regional using and abusing pilots for crappy wages. Its only saving grace is a quick upgrade i.e. a liveable wage, yet to some pilots it's the only way to stay current and be able to look for another job when things turn around.
Here's another thing. I'm not pro-GJ or anti-TSA. If TSA pilots ever strike, I'll be the first to bash and shun any GoJet pilot or any other pilot that breaks your picket line. But until that happens, you're coming across like whiny, emotional, tempertantrum-having kids... If there's something you can do about this - DO IT!

Ah yes, the whole roll over and die plan. That sounds like a great idea. Also, I didn't know there was an expiration date on an argument. Apparently to have a valid argument, you have to come up with a new one every so often because even though the old one was perfectly reasonable and valid, it is just too old. And you say we're the ones who are thinking irrationally Give me a break.

Exactly. Who cares what the technical definition is(3 a: a contemptible person b (1): a worker who refuses to join a labor union (2): a union member who refuses to strike or returns to work before a strike has ended (3): a worker who accepts employment or replaces a union worker during a strike (4): one who works for less than union wages or on nonunion terms). The point is that they're taking union busting jobs at a seniority list that was ONLY formed to get around a CBA at TSA. We're furloughing, the alter ego is hiring. Please tell me how that is not as bad as being a scab. Same difference. Everyone knows it, it's just politically incorrect to say it. And people like RJSavaitior get insulted when he's told to get out of a union pilots jumpseat. When will it end....

People, when i got into this industry in 1990s (late 90s) you had to instruct for couple of years, then get into some freight company like USC or AMF ; and then get hired by a company like ACA or CMR where you would get paid $13K/year with 4 year contract.
Those days are no where back !!!
This is the norm with the airline industry.. not the hiring boom of 2006.
