Still waiting to hear how we should tackle the sexism in the teaching profession. And nursing while we're at it.

What say you Skyvector?

Oh...is there sexism in education and nursing? Interesting...didn't know that having a vajay-jay makes one more hireable in those professions. Hang on...let me pray about this and I'll get back to you.

lets assume all have the same qualifications, and there are only 20 openings. I can guarantee you, that those 5 females and 5 minority will be hired, clean cut, before they actually decide which of the 30 white males will fill the last 10 openings.

This is what is happening in the aviation industry, that is not the pilots applying fault, the fault is at the airline agenda.
They will take minorities first, and then they will pick the white males if they need them ( of course now a days they need them really bad) .

In the end of the day the "racism parade" will come out and say... " see, this airline just hired 5 minorities and 5 females, when there were 20 spots available"
The "parade" forgot, or didnt know, or didnt want to mention that 100% of the minority and female applicants got hired, while only 33% of white did, when everyone was equally qualified...

So think about this and tell me, is this fair??? for that 40 pilot applicant group?
In reality 3 of the 10 minorities will get hired look at the class pics.

Obviously there's sexism in hiring. 92% of nurses are women. 76% of teachers. If it's not sexism, what else could it possibly be? Hmmm.

I mean, did this really happen? Was there really a group of 40 applicants with that many minorities? If this actually happened then I repeat what I said earlier.. no it's not fair, but this our society's way of showcasing to the world that anyone can do anything in this country if they work hard enough for it (barring medical issues etc of course). Cheesy? Absolutely.

Look I worked my butt off to snag a flying slot in the military. Then worked my butt off some more to make it through. Then continued to polish my skills in my aircraft. Perhaps the military had a quota to fill by selecting me, I don't know and I don't care because the only thing I cared about was doing my absolute best. I don't think there are minorities waking up and saying "I think I want to be a pilot today, they seem to need me because I'm purple". It takes work to get here, even if they have 2000 hours compared to you 6000.

They also snag up military faster... is that also unfair to you?

Please. Every other career field likes minorities just like aviation does. Stop acting like this a special career field that is purposely trying to mess with your life.

I'm not saying this doesn't happen and that it's fair.. just join WAI and OBAP and do your community service. Broaden yourself instead of whining about it.

Wait a second. Several posters on here are denying prefential hiring even occurs. They want scientific studies. You must be mistaken.

Much thanks.

Also...is there an alternate checkride just for wimmen and the blacks? Do they just have to demonstrate a normal take-off in the sim and *poof* TYPE RATING? Please clear this up for us...mmmmkay?
No unfortunately, I have no proof or study done, but if I was part of HR I would totally do it, if everyone was at the same level of experience, etc.. bc that would make the airline personnel look more diversified, and like someone else mentioned before, there are incentives to hire minorities, which I think is fair, so it can balance the numbers, in order to erase an wrong idea of possible racism/sexism in aviation, towards minorities and women, in particular. I just don't think it should be done by sacrificing someone else, just because of others people color, sex, religion etc.

That makes no sense. You backtracked saying you think it's all good to balance numbers but then say it's not fair to sacrifice someone else. So they should hire more than they need to make everyone happy?
