Was it worthy of our unilateralism? Depends how you write the history. I am sure lots of people thought Saddam was great while others wanted him dead.

I spent 3.5 years (60-90 days at a time) of my life supporting sactions against this guy. Oh yeah behind 12' foot walls (for my protection). Prison is prison no matter how you color it..... It was my choice beacuse I chose to support my country and our way of life. It did not make me happy about it but I take responsibility for my choice.
We as a country made the choices (collectively like it or not) that brought this about. Whether you voted for him (Bush) or not your being right about him or the war does not change where we are. We need to move forward from here not 8 years ago.
Well said!

Its hard to believe that Obama claims this crazy, whacked out, pastor made him "closer to Jesus" when all he does is "hoop and holler" about how the black folk is second in America.

You think its bad with Bush? Just wait till Hussein Obama takes over.....

Barack Obama is not an issue in this discussion. Vote your heart but this is not a discussion on the presidential election.

I had a discussion with my wife's cousin back in 02. He was laying into me for voting for GWB. He went on a 15 min diatribe. I asked him if he voted. He said "No", I told him to shut up.
Many of us as prior military have fought for just that right.
America is built on lots of spilt blood.
Please think for yourselves. To do that is to respect that others may think differently.
I will study long and hard before casting my next vote for president.

Only thing I hate more than Godless Communists, is Godless Corporate Neo-Cons.. '

Good evening now.

I vote for moderation in all things.

btw.. on a brighter note, I've just landed a corporate jet job on the Citation Sovereign (that's type rating #6, 8 if you count the SIC types now in 10 years)... the good news is great pay, an even better schedule, so there is something to be happy about (for now). Will have to find a new avitar I suppose..

I mean this. I wish you a stable prosperous future

Default Ok I read it all

32+ pages! Sorry I have been too busy working to keep up. Now 6 hours into a long LGA layover I have had time to read it.

God we are lucky. We can live in a place where we can speak our minds.
I guess the sacrafice is worth it. Thanks to the moderators. I know nothing has been solved but it has given us time to think that may have been otherwise spent watching CNN, Family Guy, or listening to talk radio.

Why China will not over-take us anytime soon? (see Below) We have a to speak our minds.

( BEIJING, June 5 -- The Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee has come up with a series of slogans and cheering routines for crowds at games' venues, Beijing Times reports.

An official with the Committee says the simple chants and gestures are designed to help spectators cheer for their favorite sportsmen in a smooth, civilized manner. These gestures include giving a double thumbs-up, and waving both arms with clenched fists. These actions are accompanied by several slogans.
The cheering routines – most of which are made up of four steps - which will be popularized among spectators in the weeks leading up to the Olympics. Live broadcasts before and during Olympic events will promote the use of these gestures. Volunteers will also be on hand to direct the crowds how to cheer.
The Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee has hired 30 cheering squads at Olympic ventures to show spectators how the gestures are done. The Ministry of Education is also arranging special training sessions in schools for the 800,000 students who are expected to attend the games. The gestures and slogans for the 2008 Olympics were released on Wednesday.)

Well my friend thats where you and the majority of Americans differ in so much as most will just flip on CNN, Fox, Msnbc, etc....and will have their vote dictated to them. If you are true to your word and actually take the time to research each candidate then kudos to you. Most unfortunately won't because that would take away too much time from seeing what Britney Spears is doing in US Weekly or watching the next round of fools on American Idol. Its the "I work hard at work so I want to just do something mindless with my free time" mentality that makes our election somewhat of a shell game and fosters the herd mentality when it comes to thinking for yourself.

On November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly voted 33 to 13, with 10 abstentions, in favor of a Partition Plan that created the State of Israel. The British reliquished their mandate over Palestine in 1948. War broke out between the Arabs and Jews soon after. The 1948 Arab-Israeli War, established the state of Israel as an independent state, with the rest of the British Mandate of Palestine split into areas controlled by Egypt and Transjordan.

I have no problem with Israel I respect the people and especially their ablity to kick-ass that said it must have sucked to be a Palestinian in 1947 to have a foreign body set up a country (that you did not vote for in your midst) This is a problem America will not fix. Israel and the rest of the Arab world at some point will have to get along.
Nukes / oil make this a world wide problem.
Too bad Borax is not oil then we would have the market cornered

Pet Peeve of mine:

In linguistics and ethnology, Semitic (from the Biblical "Shem", Hebrew: שם, translated as "name", Arabic: ساميّ) was first used to refer to a language family of largely Middle Eastern origin, now called the Semitic languages. This family includes the ancient and modern forms of Akkadian, Amharic, Arabic, Aramaic, Ge'ez, Hebrew, Maltese, Phoenician, Tigre and Tigrinya among others.
As language studies are interwoven with cultural studies, the term also came to describe the extended cultures and ethnicities, as well as the history of these varied peoples as associated by close geographic and linguistic distribution. The late 19th century term "anti-Semitism" refers specifically to hostility toward Jews, further complicating the understood meaning and boundaries of the term.

SO Remember if you are anti-semetic you are by definition anti-middle eastern not anti-jewish.
Wow! This is why I am enjoying this thread sooo.. much. Great history lesson but don't forget to include the fact that Jews were "purchasing" land from those in Palenstine for years prior to 1948 because they had the money. These same Palestinians were told to leave the area prior to hostilities because the mighty Arab nations were going to push the Jews into the Med. They left everything with the hope that within weeks they would return and even retrieve the land that they had "sold" (promises and deals with the infidel are null and void) to the Jews. Not the best written book but "Why I left Jihad" by Waleed Shoebat (a former terrorist whose own father wishes to kill him) delves in to the dynamics around the formation of the Jewish state. Good stuff though and I will enjoy your references!

I also know what you mean about leaving this discussion for only a little while (in my case yard work) and having to catch up on the posts.
