I accidentally transmitted on guard over California a few days ago. The first person to tell me “on guard” was appreciated. The other 6 aircraft who in rapid succession, spring loaded to tell me “you’re on guard” are awesome.

When ATC asks for your Mach or Airspeed stop responding with, “What do you need?” They’ll tell you if they need something different. The rest if us don’t need to hear four more unnecessary words because you think it’s cool to respond with that ridiculous phrase.

In your opinion, probably in the minority, its not cool to enquirer with ATC what they need. Monitor guard, and make sure those Ray Bans are clean and shiny.

You sound like a joy to fly with. 4 whole words? The horror.

So literally like.... 90% of pilots are tools? Like everyone does that.

1) I do them to bubble trance played over my Bluetooth speaker.
2) instagram.
3) when it’s not on a selfie stick out the DV window it’s on a head strap
4) I ask ATC “what do you need” when they ask how fast I’m going.

I understand that part, he used ATL in his example which makes it obvious he’s just making up his scenario because ATL doesn’t have intersecting runways.

I don’t care about the number of words, but don’t they need to know your speed in order to figure out what they need and tell you that? Seems smarter to just answer the question rather than come back with another question. But, what do I know? ....... I monitor guard.

Clearly you missed the point. No surprise there. And I’m sure the controller wants to here that over and over. Four whole words times how many times a day? Yes you missed the point by a few hundred light years.
