Yep. 90% of pilots are indeed tools. ATC asks a question. Don't respond with another question. Don't say "checking in" or "with you" and don't hover your hand on the flap lever. If you disagree, you are probably the guy people don't like flying with.

If he needs to assign a speed, he will. Quite wasting time on the radio. If you disagree you are directly the reason this thread exists and won't ever understand.

I nominate the guy in Kazakhstan airspace last night who was impersonating Borat on fingers.

Generally speaking, bored pilots can be 'toolish'.

Note to aspiring long haul pilots: If you're so bored during cruise you start acting like a teenager, chose another profession.

So according to your logic, 90% of pilots are “the guy people don’t like flying with?”

I bet you’re a blast on a 4 day.

I always love it when a Southwest pilot asks for a shortcut on a frequency that is busy with ATC at an obviously high work load and they just ignore them.

I donít care about the flap lever part but I agree 100% with the RT stuff. Itís a uniquely american problem. The rest of the world knows how to talk on the radios. For some reason we donít teach it here in the states and captains donít do a good job mentoring new FOs. Fly across Europe or Asia and you never hear any of the extraneous calls, Ďmeowsí on guard, or any of the other crap we get routinely in FAA airspace.

You donít notice it, because they meow in a foreign language.

That must be why I can't get the cat to do anything. He speaks Farsi.
