While I agree that the Airline Capt wearing his uniform to his wedding qualified him as a tool, I don't think I would equate that to a formal Military Dress wedding....ever.

Yet there was a time not that long ago where it would have been considered classy and appropriate. While I wouldn't do it anyway (unless someone was getting married at an airport chapel, in which case VVTF?), its worth pondering why its no longer acceptable.

Nope -- they're tools.

The people who build the airplane get to name it. When I ask what you fly, I didn't ask what your bid status computer code was - I asked what you fly.

If I ask you what kind of car you drive, I'm not looking for Ti, XL, LE, or SE.

Fine, then there's only one answer. ER Captain.

What? Cruise Captain is still Captain. Don't be h8n.

it's that they want those seats available to their frequent fliers/business select pax.

Keeping the people who buy lots of tickets happy is just good business.

#Protip: Business travellers really like assigned seating and first class/BE. Giving your customers what they want goes a long way in keeping them happy.

I think pipe wants us to say exactly that.

What do you fly at Delta?

When I was on the 767 domestic, it would have been:

"I fly the 757-200, 767-300, and 767-300ER no farther south than 3 degrees south latitude and with no ocean crossings."

Not being a tool takes a lot of effort and wasted breath, I guess.

My certificate just says B-757/B-767, it always seemed pretty easy to just say that. If they care more, they'll ask. Most people's eyes glaze over when you get into too much detail. Mine do, I really don't give a rat's that you fly the ER (or ED) to Guatemala every third Sunday. Let's face it, most people are surprised to find out a B-757 is smaller than a B-747 (yes, Virginia it's true. I've had to explain more than once that the don't all get bigger as the numbers go up).

Now sign me up as a tool for getting so worked up about what you Del-Taco guys call yourselves! :D

Edit - What Pipe says below!

The answer to that question is 757/767. There, wasn't that easy?

I agree, but I would never wear my A.F. Mess Dress to my wedding.

Or, if you don't like the answer you know you're going to get, don't ask the question.

Crazy Canuck 07-06-2012 08:18 AM

y'all realize that most of the people asking what kind of plane you fly generally don't know or care what a b757 or b767 is? All they wanna do is "do you fly BIG planes?" and "are you a COMMERCIAL pilot????"

So that's what I tell them

(Yes these questions are my pet peeve)
