Even if I'm on RSV, calls ALWAYS go to voice mail. ;)

I don't get the problem. If they call me on my day off, I just say "no". Next time I see the CP, I explain it was on my day off, and all is well.
Bro- some of us get in trouble for answering the phone but not being "available"... No joke!

TOTD: CA who "doses off" through the climb and the cruise but snickers quiet laughs when the FO expresses concern that they're off course when cleared direct to the airport. CA: "Yeah but we're only like, a mile, off (course)..." Apparently in all his hard work, same CA couldn't wait anymore at the hotel to hold the elevator for "his" crew...

TOTD round 2: Trumping all of the crew's vocally expressed discontent, a CA who decides to board the 92 degree airplane, inop APU, no PCAir, in the stale humidity of an afternoon deep south heat wave. But once half of the passengers are boarded, he calls dispatch (rudely to put it lightly) to complain about the heat inside and announces intent to deplane. Never deplaned and left early, even though the temp hit 96 degrees.

eek

That's really unfortunate. What's the point of a day off if the company can still require you to work? I hope you guys get that corrected.

The captain who sleeps PHL - SFO, with a 1800 departure, then sleeps on the red eye back, 0100 EST departure, wakes up in the descent, and complains that I am doing 340 kts. I eventually said suck my dick, and we had a jumpseater.

What airline? At DAL if scheduling is desperate for bodies and calls you on your day off...AND you are legal to fly the trip they "tagged" you for, then you really can't turn down the trip. That is an Inverse Assignment, and the company has a right to do it.

Of course there are a few considerations.

1. IAs pay double time.

2. IAs can only be pursued by the company after exhausting quite a few other, less onerous steps of trip coverage.

3. IAs are rare, if not nonexistent, for many categories for months and even years on end. However, they are NOT unheard of.

4. Most importantly, the company can't IA you if you don't answer your phone!! Ringmaster has been around for at least the 15+ years I have been on Delta property, and the ONLY entity that has my separate ringmaster number is crew scheduling. I never answer the ringmaster ring without first checking Caller ID (i.e. either Crew Scheduling, or some telemarketer). There simply is NO reason anyone can complain about being IA'd via a phone call. (I have heard of extreme situations where gate agents will meet a pilot in the jetway after he has finished a trip with his IA for the next day--that truly is a hose job, but again, extremely rare).

At DL you're on the hook for some things if you answer the phone unless you have a valid excuse such as alcohol (run to the fridge while answering the phone), no child care or a couple others...

Take the EFB for a little stroll.

If it were only that easy...it's powered from the aircraft, so it has to stay in the cockpit in order work :(
