DAL Pilots Donate $15,000 to Cincinnati Charity

Tim O’Malley, Philip and Jeanne Bell (ICYO founders), and youth from ICYO.On August 15, prior to the Cincinnati Reds home game against the New York Mets at the Great American Ball Park, the Delta Pilots’ Charitable Fund (DPCF) presented a donation of $15,000 to Cincinnati’s Inner City Youth Opportunities. DPCF chairman, Delta F/O Joe Houseman, stated “It is our privilege to support ICYO’s valuable mission with funds raised entirely through the generosity of the Delta pilots,” as represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l. Houseman was joined by DPCF board members F/O Bren Fries, F/O Chuck Albers, Capt. Kingsley Roberts, and Delta MEC chairman Capt. Tim O’Malley to present the check to ICYO founders Philip and Jeanne Bell.
The mission of Inner City Youth Opportunities is to teach practical life skills to develop responsible, educated and caring youth. Inner City Youth Opportunities provides a safe and structured environment for inner-city children (grades K-6) of low-income families after school and during the summer.
The Delta Pilots Charitable Fund is managed and funded entirely by Delta pilots. The DPCF has donated over $1 million to a variety of charities that help America’s most valuable resource—our children. The fund was formed in 1999 as a philanthropic, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) fund, which supports charitable activities and leaves a permanent legacy for future generations in communities where Delta pilots live and work.
Thanks guys. At least one part of the Delta family is trying to help out in Cincinnati.

I'm an old school new englander, and last person I knew to get a cell phone, which I still hate. My twin teen age daugthers set up a Facebook page for me a few years ago.
In about 15 minutes, I had three high school girls I hadn't seen, nor wanted to, in 30+ years, trying to 'Friend' me. I said to my girls, "Shut it down!! Quick, before your Mother sees this!"
So my Facebook page lasted about 15 minutes, and I don't feel there's anyone who needs, or wants, to know every time I take a dump.
I prefer my privacy and I don't need a whole lot of "Friends" following me in cyberspace.
Did you see Tom Green talking about it last night on Jay Lenno?
I think he hit the nail on the head;

Yeah, I'm old, In my head! I guess I spent too much time camping in the woods as a kid. I learned you really don't need a whole lot of extra stuff to survive.
Did you ever see that Saturday Night Live skit from back in the Dana Carvey days, where he and another SNL member are made up as grumpy old men, sitting on a couch talking about how everything was better 'in the old days'?
"We didn't have seatbelts in our day, didn't need seatbelts! And we Liked IT! LOVED IT, wouldn't have it any other way!"
That's me.
I'd still rather hand prop a Cub and land on a grass strip than turn a key in a Cessna, I'd rather fly the DC9 than the MD88, but I do love the 757, empty, doing a 'normal power' takeoff, now if I could just get one on floats...
