Yeah, I have to agree with you here. The guy is definitely no Tim Martins, and from what I hear he was called in over the videos and is more than likely getting some time off as a result. I think that's adequate considering the circumstance.

Hopefully he'll come out of it a little wiser and mature.

It IS embarrassing, but when people are treated like children, sometimes they act like children. Not an excuse, just a reality. Regional pilots are treated like dirt, and then suddenly expected to behave like professionals. To their credit, 99.9% conduct themselves with professionalism even when their companies don't return the favor. Please, I'm not condoning this or making excuses for it, I'm simply saying it doesn't surprise me at all.

He's correct. Eurotrashland is a proper term when it comes to the vests.

One fine morning on a ETL ramp. 3 pilots, only one vest wearer, were accosted within 30 seconds of taking several small steps for man onto the aircraft footprint. The excitement of catching the colonials flagrantly violating the socialist order was thick in the air.

The objections continued even when it was professionally explained that we were only on the ramp to pay respects to a fellow Captain who passed away on a layover as his remains were coming off a open truck into the forward cargo

With no common sense forthcoming in the conversation, a good 'Neww Yawk' response was tendered that sent the little socialist 'Hand of the King' off for reinforcements.

We departed for the colonies before the bureaucracy could react or somebody talked some sense into the idiot.

You're right, and I hate that I did. Yet the axiom "you get what you pay for" persists.

Guy "B" made a fool of himself in public. He didn't break any overt safety rules like videoing while flying etc, he just made us look bad. It was pretty embarrassing.

I think being pulled off the line and told to straighten up is more than enough.
Stolen Valor act was overturned in 2012 by the SCOTUS. A new law prohibiting one from profiting from wearing unearned medals was signed into law by Obama in 2013. Or so the internets leads me to believe.

Federal appeals court rules wearing unearned military medals is free speech.

Then again I don't understand being a wanna be pilot, while being a doctor on a pilot forum, bashing our programs when you can only afford a 182. I flew for a neurosurgeon and he could afford a king air plus a bunch....must be a sorry cardio doc I guess....
If I'm not mistaken, that is the aircraft flashlight installed in the cockpit or at the flight attendant station. Not exactly an approved tool for performing a walkaround...daytime or night.

Sorry. Not taking the bait.

It's still not a good enough excuse for what this guy did. Are you getting a mental image of this? I don't think you are. A 121 cptn scooting through the terminal in front a lot of the general public IN UNIFORM WEARING WHEELIE SHOES!

I stand by my original statement. This guy needs to be stripped of his ATP. I personally don't want him amongst our ranks. What an utter idiot.
