You probably only see that on "the 9".

We have a guy like that in LA. Longest four days you'll ever fly.

There lies a Captain Nomex within every airline. But did you ever fly with a first officer that sported a knee board too ?

My experience is that these LCA types usuually screwup or take a shortcut somewhere. When they do, "exactly where is that in the book" shuts 'em up.

As a Captain, I've had a few FOs do that. I like the term "Check FO."

I had one CA hop off the airplane, point to some gadget on the airframe and say "I'll buy your first beer tonight if you can tell me what this does." My response: "That's the device that gets both of us violated for leaving the aircraft while being fueled with the APU running".

^Yeah, haven't seen a knee board since I was instructing & haven't used one before CFI school. I have heard of a tool or two still using them.
