I don't know who you work for, but if it is UAL perhaps he was thinking of all the furloughed pilots who might have liked to fly your trip.

How about Pdt CAs picking up OT in right seat when we had people on furlough (one of only s&$t companies to not offer voluntary furloughs)

Yep... they are TOTD, but the union officials who are silent on this issue are thus condoning such behaviour, thus they too are TsOTD

Now I know all you guys are going to jump on me and call me a tool etc. That's fine. But, for the sake of argument, consider this:

For the purposes of my argument one assumption has to be made and I think it's a valid assumption: A trip that is unassigned, in open time etc., one way or another, is going to be assigned to someone.

So, why not let someone who wants to fly that trip fly it instead of it being inversely assigned to someone who doesn't want to fly it? Especially over a holiday like Christmas?? I get it that, if you have furloughs, you want those pilots back off the street but if the trip is going to be flown one way or another, why not have it be flown by one that wants to do it instead of someone who doesn't?

The only way it might help furloughs is if the trip goes unflown, no-oped. Then it might help them. How often does this happen???

Please show me where I'm wrong!

Fire away!! (I'm leaving town before you guys "get a rope!")

That's great - fly away! I agree the Capt. should not give you a hard time in that case.

Go ahead Denny... take the open trip. However Denny, consider donating the extra pay attributable to the trip and unused per-diem to the Furlough fund, if there is one.

Just my two cents... Now where did I put that VSOP?
