Sounds like paranoia to me. CASS, or company employee verification, is a pretty good reason why guys don't check. You can forge a pilot certificate and a medical, but you'd have a tough time hacking the CASS database and having your face pop up on a gate agents screen. I'd rather fly with a paranoid gate agent.
Its bush league for a JS rider not to at least have those two simple things at least readily presentable. Takes 10 seconds, max. The stakes are far too high and the rewards of acting cool and casual about it just way too low IMHO.
It takes 10 seconds and we're required to do it anyway. Where exactly is the incentive to blow it off?

There was an example recently that flat out proves that getting a CASS ticket printed out is not enough to stop the threat. Not going to post it here, but look around internally if you need proof.

Actually somewhat recent.
As a jumpseater, you should expect to show your stuff to the captain unless otherwise advised. It is what it is.

Traveling in civies, or off line, I expect to be asked for my lic. and med. Traveling in uniform, on my own airline, not so much. Same goes for how I treat JS riders. Company pilot in uniform, his company ID is plenty, but in civies or an off line pilot, show me your stuff, and then for more proof, the questions begin;
When were you hired? What's your seniority number? What are you flying? Why did you bid that??? What were you thinking?? Do you know Joe Blow? We were in the Navy together back when he had hair, and you know how he got his name...?

TOTD to the Regional kid (didn't see which airline) with stickers on his flight case for the Thunderbirds Demo Team, Paramedic Badge, and Formula 1 Racing.
I wanted to approach him and say "Timmay? Will you sign my copy of ALPA Magazine?"
