I was 2-3 minutes late to my aircraft. CA shut the cockpit door and gave me 5 minute lecture about how our show time was 20 min ago and I need to be there then like the rest of the crew and I'm being too lazy. Note it was 4:45 am.

I ran downstairs and got a sewing kit and did a crummy patch job. I didn't move out of the seat pretty much all day for fear I'd rip the patch job. I now fly with a spare pair of pants.

Are there guys out there that don't take an extra pair of pants on the road? Seriously?

For 2 days or less I don't.

I wouldn't have stayed around for a five minute lecture. I would have picked my bag up and told him, that I was sure scheduling would be able to get him a new FO in a reletively short time. And yes, I have done that very thing as a new hire FO. Capt chased be down on the ramp as I walked away from the plane and apologized.

Me! Mine are cut a little on the looser side so I don't rip them if I bend down and so I have freedom of action in the remote event that H2H is called for. I've screwed up shirts (button, java, or marinara sauce failures) but never pants. I do carry duct tape though.

I'm sure I will destroy my pants if I ever go on a trip without a backup. I also check to make sure I have my ID like 5 times before I leave the house. I guess that's my OCD talking. Now I have to go wash my hands again.
