Gotta highlight all those VORs for your route on a chart that you'll eventually use for a different route.

I get the impression this guy doesn't like to "touch charts"

That's not bad, as far as half-apologies go. There is something vaguely wrong about even being aware of when the other guy is using the 5th. I've always used it, cause it was there, but I couldn't possibly tell you whether anyone else does or doesn't use theirs.

Wonder how many of your co-workers have wondered "did DeadHead just take a quick glance at my junk? OMG! I think he did!"

The Captain that hates being a PM and robs you off your leg because "he loves to fly!"

No comparison to the tool of the century in the previous posts, but I vote a JetBlue crew member landing at BOS last night for Tool of the week.

Weather was clearing and along with wind change, landing runway was change from 22L to 27.

Our intrepid JetBlue crew was one of many getting reassigned to 27 as follows.

(following are not direct quotes, but close)

BOS APP: JetBlue XYZ, turn XYZ, new runway 27

JETBlue XYZ: Is this going to take some time, because we turn into a pumpkin (or something like that)

BOS APP: JetBlue XYZ, are you at minimum fuel, please state minutes remaining.

JetBlue XYZ: No, not fuel, we're pushing our duty time for the next leg.

Seriously?

We were really enjoying our 12+ hour duty day ourselves, and while I don't know for sure if this guy got priority or affected us one minute, it seemed ATC accomodated him after his little whine.

(I guess I really shouldn't complain, we made money on the leg)

I noticed he said he flew for the Navy, off boats.

I wonder if he's got his Iceman hat, and if he rides the highway to the danger zone?

ICEMAN - The Later Years from NiNo

And did he tell you guys in his class; "You guys are dangerous!"

I'd like to go on record as saying pilots who use the "5th" strap of a 5-point harness are NOT tools. I rescind my earlier comments and ask that they be stricken from public record.

In time I hope I can be reaccepted back into the "tool of the day" community.

As restitution for my hastily comments I plan on taking a brief sabbatical from this thread as I travel out to UVU in a mission to steal Captain Jim Green's Epaulets and/or Wings.

I love this thread. The amount of wit here is refreshing.

On a side note, I move to dismiss Deadhead's suggestion that wearing the crotch strap is toolish. I wear it because if I don't, the lap belt rides up on me and we end up looking like this:

Please log my vote for Capt Green as winner of the Tool Lifetme Achievement Award. Well done, sir.

I think this can be awarded by acclimation. Therefore the rest of this thread will be devoted to runners up for the award.
