'Tis true, BUT I'm sure you'd agree that personal insults have NO place in a "professional" setting such as a cockpit. Totally juvenile and just plain mean.

I've always had wonderful experiences with jetBlue, the airline I jump on the most. I'm only allowed to sit in the cabin, but have to run it past the Captain, of course, so I'm spoiled by their graciousness and hospitality. The one time I took an unnamed regional from IAD to EWR, as I needed to get home ASAP, I was caught off-guard when a "captain" said "I don't care, do what you want" when I introduced myself asking for a ride home.

It takes all kinds, I guess, but still don't think personal insults are acceptable.

LN, I do agree about personal insults. Not cool. However, too many people these days are offended by the smallest things. That pilot may have been dealing with some heavy personal stuff and, as most humans do, was unable to keep personal and professional separate. Not condoning that behavior. But, the comment was not necessarily a personal attack. It very well could just be poor intrapersonal skills and is not unique to one airline or pilot group.

Are you kidding me?! How in the hell can you even begin to defend the idiot's insulting comments?! Seriously?!

I'm not all touchy-feely sensitive, but that guy deserved a punch in the face leading to a broken nose so people could make fun of his red face. Tool of the century if you ask me!

"I had the pleasure of sitting in the jumpseat with PSA for the first time. It was so great that I'm going to tell everyone about it. While waiting for the plane, I introduced myself the crew. The captain, looked at me in total disgust and didn't even say hi back. They boarded, I ended up with the jump so again i introduced myself, ask politely if it is okay and hand the captain all of the paperwork. He goes on to breif me on their cockpit, when he gets to the escape hatch he points at it and says "grab the handle, the red one, like your face..." No more words were shared until we are about to descend and the FO turns around to ask what I fly. "A 402." To which he responds, "I don't know what that is, I'm not general aviation, I;m Navy. Is that like a King Air?" The best part: I don't think that they even get it. I'll be riding any other airline out of here. I'd rather rent a car and drive three hours than ever deal with that sh$t again.""
A good response would have been, " its a small plane that pays me double what you make, and I didn't even have to suck D.P's d***."

Read earlier comments. I do not condone that type of behavior. I do not think personal attacks are cool.

However, I have been around long enough to know that each and every one of us has had a moment of weakness in which we may have said or done something that was unprofessional, out of character, rude, immature, etc. So, no, I am not taken aback. I understand that human beings deal with all kinds of things in their personal and professional lives and it is difficult to separate the two sometimes. I am honest with myself enough to admit that I am not righteous in this regard. Are you?

So, given the choice to accept that a person is dealing with personal issues and inadvertently (or purposely) takes it out on me in a moment of weakness and then turn the other cheek in a mature and adult manner, or to punch someone in the face and then have to deal with all the consequences associated with that incredibly immature action, I choose the former.

Seriously? I've never seen THAT one, but have seen gym (or 'roid) rats cut their short sleeves at the bottoms to give their biceps room.
