Yeah, thanks, 717A. Btw, I had a Compass E70A one time when I ran up to the gate just 10 prior, the gate agent said they were closed, so I just went to the window and the E70A saw me. She made a hand motion signal, and I made a gesture to my watch and shrugged. She came up and got the agent to list me and told him we wouldn't leave until I was on. The flight still pushed on time.

Now I'm not expecting every single "A" to do that but just as you said 'I'm sure you know' I'm also sure you know that you have the power to do this too. You the A run your ship, not some gate agent. Of course I don't blame the pilots in this particular case. Had they seen me through the window I've no doubt one would have come up and gotten me on. Maybe except you :p

No worries, I've been in the industry just enough to always be professional, smile, and just take the next flight. Still doesn't mean a pilot won't complain on APC :D

Same here. Got denied a js by an agent 15 minutes before push. Along with me there was a young Mom and baby who had been trying unsuccessfully to non-rev all day. I went to the window and saw the Capt. was an acquaintance and tapped my watch.

He got out of his seat and came up to the boarding area. When I told him the situation, he went to the agent and said, "I'm going to take a dump. I'll be back in five minutes and when I get here, I expect very seat on the airplane including the Jumpseat to be full," and walked off.

She and the baby got the last seat in back and I got the Jumpseat to work.

I nominate the male flight attendant on my Alaska airlines deadhead today. After the landing, which was a little harder than usual but just fine, in wind and rain, and lower visibility wx, he made his PA. He started with a loud, long sigh. Then he said, "Well after THAT landing, we're here". And finished his speech while the passengers were laughing. It was really rude, aggravated me, and made me think of how glad I am not to have to deal with flight attendants. I wanted to tell him what a douche he was, but didn't see him upon exiting.

I will probably send Alaska a complaint, however I don't know if that does any good. It was really condescending and disrespectful.

You MIGHT be a bit confused on the DAL J/S policy. The 15 minutes prior to scheduled or delayed departure time will hold a J/S reservation for a DAL pilot. If another DAL pilot is standing by for the J/S and the reso pilot is late, the standby should get the seat. (I watch the clock like a hawk, and have asked the agent what time they have, just to be sure I get the seat, as the standby.)

If there's an OAL pilot waiting and checked in with the agent, a DAL pilot can get the J/S, even without a reservation and within 15 minutes, IF accommodating the DAL pilot doesn't delay departure. (I'd paste the text from our FOM, but that's frowned on by DAL.)

As for closing out early, I'd make note of the agent's name, date, flight, etc... and report it to my CPO, (DAL), especially if it cost me a hotel stay! :mad:

had that happen a few months ago...agent came to close the door and i got pulled off by a last minute show....all part of the game.

Obviously I wasn't there, but pax in the back don't mind, and might actually like it. That sounds like just a bit of levity. I have been in back when the captain / FO himself has said something similar after a hard landing, something like "we wanted to wake you all up for the arrival" and people start laughing. I would not take it seriously.

If a nurse lightly 'disses me in front of people, as long as people laugh and it is not serious, I don't mind. I'm in charge, and my ego is not fragile. ;)

Don't complain unless the FA did other things wrong too or was actually disrespectful or mean-spirited.
