Default Hey all

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a first officer at a US regional airline and joined this forum to talk about hot topics and gain some insight on the industry. I've been flying for 11 years, professionally for 3.

I also am looking to get some more information about an app we use everyday here - but I will wait until I have access to more forums to get that information.

Default Married Into Aviation

Husband of a second officer at a foreign commercial carrier. She holds a Multi-Engine Land-Instrument-B777-300ER rating in her country. I'm US-born, she's not.

I've spent a lot of time configuring sims for her and helping her preparing for tests over the years. She does all the flying. Now it's time for us to move to Los Angeles so I can take care of my aging relatives.

I'm joining to get some career guidance that I can pass to her as she's not into forums as much as I am. I'll ask the rest in the career group once approved.

Red face Finally made it here.

Hullo everyone! I am a Regional Captain with a diverse background before that. Have been hunting for a “big pilot” job but not enthusiastically enough until recently. Had apps in for multiple years and got a class date (yipeee!) from a splendid company (double yippee!!) and that class date is coming up. Hoping to network with new coworkers and learn more about how to do well as a pilot there.

Default Hello

Long-time reader, first-time poster. After two decades of wondering whether a full-time aviation career was ever going to be a possibility, I’m blessed to have the support of my family in pursuing this dream. In the past four and a half years, I’ve gone from instructing part time to full time, flying charter in the Lower 48 and scheduled Part 135 in Alaska, to three-plus years at a great regional carrier. I’m extremely fortunate to have a choice on which legacy carrier I’ll join to finishing out my professional career.

Long time lurker on these forums. A little north of 1200TT currently, and working as a CFI, mostly in archers and some 172s. Looking to transition to 121 when I hit the times and have questions for those at the airlines now.

Default Not a pilot but possible Load master

I’d like communicate with pilots from time to time regarding load master info. JMO, the pilots are the heart of the cargo industry-without them nothing gets moved.

Default USMC helo

I'm a Marine Corps AH-1Z helicopter pilot with about 700 TT and about 1-2 years from transitioning. I'm hoping to get my FW PIC time and ME ratings through either a skillbridge program or while on terminal leave and apply for the regionals in hope of eventually flying for a ULCC/major/legacy out of Atlanta.

My SO is currently finishing up ATP Flight School and will start instructing to build her time in order to fly for regionals or ULCC. I'd like to connect with other airline pilots that have significant others that are also pilots in order to see what the work/life balance is with two airline pilots. And on top of that, what does it look like with kids in the equation?

Additionally, I would really be interested to get some knowledge from a helo guy that has recently transitioned and flying with the regionals or legacy. As a helo guy, and IF I were to get orders flying T6s for 3 years and time building, would it be worth it? Some personal calculus to go into that decision is: GI Bill, QOL and fun of flying T6s, no paying out of pocket for FW hours, being home while SO is very junior with regionals vice BOTH of us being very junior at regionals, etc. Any thoughts would be much appreciated, thank you!
