Anyone have any gouge on how long HR has been taking to respond nowadays? It's been about six weeks since I got the "looking at your application" email. Does Hawaiian HR usually provide some sort of update eventually?

Probably yes. Maybe no. They stay on Hawaiian time.

The class on the 21st has 10, at least 4 in the 717.

I applied in Feb - I never got any "looking at your application" email at all. So I assumed I was just unworthy.
But just today I got an email with an interview invitation. Caught me by surprise!
I am currently fly for an ACMI and I am torn. If I get to fly cargo for Hawaiian I would love to go... but new hires start with 717 right?

No, not entirely true. It’s based on your seniority in class like any other major with multiple aircraft types. So, yes the 717 typically goes junior in each class,
but occasionally someone chooses the 717 for the lifestyle of mostly being home more often.
Classes have all types available, A330 (which will lead you to an unrestricted choice to the freighter), A321 or 717.

I believe that if you want freight from the get go, that’s what you’ll get but indoc class will be at an appropriate time just before initial training in Miami.

Thank you, looks like the class starting on 04/04 will have 10 new hires as well. My guess is 5 x B717 and 5 x A321...

Well guessing may not be what is available, good guess but we still need bodies in the 330. A lot of the back filling for pilots moving
on to their respective bid seats is close to being fixed or complete. We still have pilots lingering in seats they arent being paid to fly in. Anyway day 1 you’ll know what is available.

from what I can tell from the April bid packet there’s a class of 6 on 04/04 (4 717, 2 321)
and a class of 7 on 4/18 (4 717, 3 321). I could be misreading it completely though.

looks like they are working on back filling the exodus from the 717 before they get to filling the 330 vacancies.
