Has anyone heard when/how the 767 pilots are going to bid into other airframes? I'm actually wanting get on with the 767 for a particular mainland "overnight", but worried I'm going to hose myself. I got the impression the swap has been delayed quite a bit, but wonder if I should just stick it out for a couple years, and hold the 330 elsewhere until it takes the route over...

Well seems like lately some have accepted the invite and then turned them down, and others leave in the first year, so maybe just getting applicatants is not such a great plan.

I got hired this year but also at Delta. There was a huge part of me that wanted to take the Hawaiian Job (ties to japan, A330 I international flying, outdoor life, way more of a zen paced life) I kinda really wanted that both short and long term. But I just couldn't get over the pay disparity in the first year. And the more I thought about it I also couldn't justify the reasoning behind it. The willingness to sacrifice financial stability should never be a measure of "loyalty" or "how much you want to be here" . Just because they have applicants is no excuse for a good company that is financially successful. Even with the large increase in 2nd year pay you would be digging yourself out of a hole. Your final career destination shouldn't involve you living below the basic cost of existing as a single human being let alone with a family. And so I found myself not willing to do it even for a year.

With the Pilot Shortage getting worse and worse, I don't see how Hawaiian is avoiding problems like the above. I was just reading the UAL thread, and how they are having problems with people not showing for the interview, for new-hire class, or leaving class sometime between Day 1 and the end of their first year at UAL. I don't think Hawaiian would be better off than UAL.

I think we just don't have to hire the amount needed to say we have a hiring issue.
And the flying we do isn't the toughest out there, so any low time new hire learning curve one we expect with 3000hr pilots in a 300 pax widebody, gets lost in 5-10 hrs of cruise flight.
We had a low tomer want to divert because CPDLC went down. Heard the Captain let it go for awhile until the FO wanted to make the divert call to company. At that point the Captain finally said " how about we just give voice reports"

Position, Time, Altitude, Position, Time, Position.
If you were looking for an airline job you'd probably be familiar with the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals job fair
