Thanks, GunnerV - I can put a check in the box next to all the things you mentioned, and I posted a resume&app last week...any ideas on a typical timeline for HR to reply these days? Calling to follow up just delivers me to HR voicemail

Also, are things still similar to what has been mentioned before? Is 90 days deployed/90 home a typical schedule? 130k+ a year still possible, with over 200k achievable if you stay deployed for a year?

No idea on the timeline for callbacks, sorry. Deployments are now four or six months on and three or four months off. Pay is still the same. Good luck!

Default A little bit of guidance?

I am a newbie here and have a few questions if anyone has time/knowledge to help me out...

I am currently enlisted in the AF and am looking at separating in order to finish up my degree. I am going to Kansas State University in Salina, KS, to get my undergraduate in Unmanned Aerial Systems. I currently hold a TS and have deployed a number of times primarily working with data links and airspace control. I would like to get out and contract, hopefully doing a few deployments to be able to help out the guys who put their lives on the line so I can have the freedom I do. Can anyone help me with some of the major companies out there that are hiring and what I need to in order to make myself more marketable? I have seen a number of listings for pilot jobs but most of those seem to be for the state side. Any help? Also, is there anything extra I can do to make myself more marketable to any of the companies?

Thanks!!

I'm sorry if someone already brought this up, but I skipped to the end of the subject. I'm retiring from the Air Force, and have never been a UAV guy. I was a UPT instructor in the T-1, and an IP in the KC-10, and C-40. I filled out an application with AAI Corporation. I received a call back within days. I put down $80K as my minimum salary, and was told they would pay "well above that". They have some spots CONUS and OCONUS. Their HQ is in MD, but they have UAV positions at Luke, I think. I stopped pursuing the job because I am starting at Delta on 25 Oct.

Good Luck.

GunnerV, I posted in another thread the same thing but this thread seems more relevant. How would Raven UAV experience translate over to the job market? I would like to fly in Iraq or Afghanistan (any UAV) but having a hard time finding opportunities over there. I have 5 years operator experience and a clearance. Did not see any positions with Insitu on there website, do they still have contracts?

AK,
We are hiring again. Your exp is what we are looking for. If there is no openings for FSR, put your resume in "general" or "open", something like that. (I haven't looked at the web page in a while.)

Looks like Insitu is not hiring for the FSR position now. The last posting was on 8/20/2010 from indeed.com. ISR Group wont be hiring until next year. Anyone know how often Insitu opens up its door for the FSR positions? How many positions are there anyway?

Insitu posted the FSR position on their board again, dated 11/30/2010 - looks like they are collecting resumes once more for the next round. If you submit a resume, don't forget to fill out an application too, its an electronic form buried somewhere in their website.

Just for anyone wondering about their process(like I was a few months ago), I put in a resume at the end of August, had more or less given up on ever hearing anything, then in mid-October I got a call asking if I was still interested, and could I be available for an interview in early November. It was a group interview and the take-away I got was that they had quite a few FSR positions to fill over the coming year. Everyone in the group I was with had some level of clearance and was either active military or had been in the past. A few days after the interview I was told I was moving forward in the process, and since then I've been completing background paperwork for them, but still no job offer, and its been several weeks now since I heard from them. Not sure what to think, but I'm still somewhat hopeful. . . Anybody else reading this had any experience with Insitu's hiring process? I'd be real curious to know if this is the norm, or if it's time to move on and focus elsewhere...
