Hit the Kool-Aid a bit hard? $8k is absurd for a Cirrus considering several jet types run less than that. It's equally absurd they require you to house yourself and you guys are still lining up. Our own worst enemies.

I received an additional application which mentioned 3 months of training;is this a realistic number? Also, can you share what IOE is like?

Full salary is paid from day one. I am on the salaried 1 year commitment and my take home is way more than $1600/month.

Training for our class of 4 was over 3 months, but it is planned to shorten this for future classes.

I.O.E. is 4 legs flown with a qualified P.I.C.
At least 2 of those 4 legs need to be a 135 flight with a paying customer. It is really a non event. Not difficult considering the training received.

The checkride, taken just before I.O.E. is with the 1 check airman. He is a great guy also, and it is a learning experience as well. The training did prepare everyone very well for the checkride.

I was just relaying what I was told, because someone else brought the subject up. I am not responsible for setting the price of the training, or trying to justify that price. Rather than Imagine Air buying hotel rooms and putting pilots in training on reduced pay, they chose to pay full salary from day one, and let the pilot’s choose where to stay.

Not everyone has the option to pick and choose jobs where the company pays for everything during training.

Wow. That's a direct quote from the Chief Pilot....

ImagineAir doesn't have to choose one of those options, you do realize that? They could, in fact, like many other places, do both. And the one year commitment option = $30,000/12 months = $2,500/month - taxes/ss/etc AND your own personal health insurance since they provide nothing = approx. $1,600, maybe $1,700.

You certainly aren't taking home "way more" than that.

No. That is a direct quote from me. I made it up. I never heard the Chief Pilot say any thing like that, but it doesn’t matter who said it, because it is true.

Interviewees are fully informed of the pay plan. It should be no surprise. For those than think it is inadequate, they will need to look elsewhere. I never could understand how someone could accept a job, knowing the pay & later then complain about the pay.

Do you enjoy arguing? Perhaps you find that posting on these forums is a form of entertainment? I have better things to do than respond to a diatribe.

The purpose of this forum is HIRING NEWS. Posts not on that topic are irrelevant. There are pilots looking for work who have different needs that no one knows about. They are looking for information on who is hiring. If a certain company meets that need, then they have the option to accept that job for the agreed amount. My motive was to answer a simple question about 1st year pay, not to defend the pay scale.

Just trying to provide all possible information for people interested in this "Hiring News". I truly hope you enjoy the job.

And while you may not have heard the Chief Pilot say those words, I have, hence the quote.

Good luck there, I don't regret it, just think people should be well informed.

$8000 training bond for a single-engined airplane that's not an F16...

Seems like a relatively fun job otherwise.
