That's what I have heard. I have also heard that you can get a pretty good line fairly quickly there.

DFW ATR should continue to have vacancies, due to pilots switching to the jet after 2-3 yrs on the prop.
The problem is with my age I will likely have last pick in my class and I'll probably end up with the CRJ in JFK without a chance for much movement. Just something to think about.

For those who are already in training, or thinking about Eagle. This is the latest company Vacancy Bid that they released to us. The positions below are offered to the line pilots, then if they go unfilled there is a good chance you will see future newhires offered the slots.

A VACANCY BID IS OPEN EFF <11 AUG 2010¶

*VACANCIES* *ENTER TRAINING NO LATER THAN*¶

<05 ORD FO CRJ <02 MAR 11¶

<04 LGA CA CRJ <02 MAR 11¶

<22 LGA FO CRJ <02 MAR 11¶

<05 DFW CA EMJ <02 MAR 11¶

<10 DFW FO EMJ <02 MAR 11¶

<30 ORD FO EMJ <02 MAR 11¶

<08 DFW FO ATR <02 MAR 11¶

CONT ON PAGE 2<¶

CONT FROM PAGE 1 2 OF 3¶

WE WILL NOT BACKFILL THE FIRST 14 DCC, THE FIRST 12 DFC, THE¶

FIRST 7 JCE, THE FIRST 12 JFE, THE FIRST 12 NCE, THE FIRST 23¶

NFE, THE FIRST 5 OCE, THE FIRST 2 MCA, THE FIRST 3 MFA, THE¶

FIRST 4 SCA, AND THE FIRST 08 SFA.¶

The 2nd part where it says what positions will not be backfilled is especially important. For instance, they wont backfill the first 12 JFE, which means if 12 JFK EMJ FOs are awarded any other positions (like ORD EMJ FO, or a CA slot) then the company wont bring any new people into JFK EMJ FO to replace them. If a 13th JFK EMJ FO bids out, then they will bring in 1 person.

There are 9 CA positions open, but depending on backfills it may not result in any new CA upgrades, just transfers from CA to CA.

Surprisingly, no. Maybe they are staffed well enough in SJU for now. Looks like lots of OFE and NFC spots. DFW looks to be increasing on the EMJ and ATR side of things.

Is it possible that some SJU guys will move north and open up some spots?

Hired 7/5 MFA. Scheduled to be through with IOE on 9/20 and have already been awarded DFW effective 10/1.

Yes, but look at that 2nd part of the bid and it shows they won't backfill the first 8 SFAs that leave. It doesn't mean they won't offer any newhires SFA, because their planning changes on a daily basis sometimes. Just less likely to have lots of SFA spots for newhires in the immediate future.

For those of you who are there, and considering the above, which aircraft and base would you recommend to a new hire, and why? Looks like ATR SJU may be out of the question.
