FATboy,
West coast is three for three so far. Two KC-10 guys and one C-5 guy all from Travis. I don't know of any others yet.

Stella...

acl65pilot 07-17-2010 11:19 AM

Lots of 85-86 hires there too!

I don't think they have to worry. TC is a current SWA pilot. The flow usually goes from Delta to SWA

I think there's been SWA pilots that have left for Delta too. Not everyone wants to work for DAL, & not everyone wants to work for SWA.

I think Quagmire might be black listed. 1 of 9 so far ... and the chosen one was legacy.

il0101 07-18-2010 09:16 AM

anyone know about how long to get the "cleared to train" letter after the interview?

acl65pilot 07-18-2010 09:32 AM

Never got a letter. I just got a call for a class date.

That said, most I know called to check on their status and that is the response they got, "Cleared to Train."

Too my response and put it down here.

it used to be a decent aviation forum and was free, now they charge and its about as worthless of a discussion forum that you can get on. 85% of it is nothing but a bunch of flamebait.

IslanderDriver 07-18-2010 11:45 PM

Anyone know how long the portion of the application on AirlineApps, that asks about previous interview and work history with NWA has been on there? I think about a week or so but can't say for sure. (It is in the "Job Targeting" and then in the Delta Addendum.) Probably won't change much how they look at you but they want everything filled out, so probably good to do so.

about 2 weeks.

DedRecon 07-19-2010 03:53 AM

I just noticed it too. They sent out a notice that the yellow fever question had been added but I just discovered the Northwest questions when I was updating my app yesterday.

PinnacleFO 07-19-2010 06:54 PM

Does anyone have an official answer on if they have stopped interviewing for now? Are they waiting to see what happens with the flows?

acl65pilot 07-19-2010 07:12 PM

Nothing is ever official until it is past being official :D

I would say it is a "Team timeout" to get the team a few gulps of water so they can get back in the game.

The MEC directed the negotiators to meet with mgmt about the flows.
On top of being swamped, the hiring folks are likely slowing down the interviews just a bit to see what happens in those meetings.

12W20 07-20-2010 10:27 AM

It looks like emails are still going out. I just received the email this morning. I called and scheduled an interview for 2 Aug. I had the option of 2-5 Aug. I hope others get word soon.

If you don't mind: what kind of experience do you have (just so we can see where we all sit in the application process...)? Thanks!

Has anyone received an invite this week?

Soulshine 07-22-2010 03:19 AM

What is the latest training date received?

..................

acl65pilot 07-22-2010 05:06 AM

None of the guys I know have gotten called for the early Sept dates.

Pilotguy143 07-22-2010 10:27 AM

has anyone with zero military time and zero turbine pic time been called, or do you have to have one or the other to get a call?

bull 07-22-2010 01:40 PM

I know there is an Aug 16 class. Has anyone gotten a later one than that???

Yes, there are ASA first officers with no military and zero turbine pic getting hired at Delta.

NWAPoolie 07-23-2010 06:15 AM

Great news for these people. However the beating on the former NWA pool pilots just keeps coming. Congrats to the former poolies that survived the career holocaust. We will call them " the few, the proud the former poolie"

acl65pilot 07-23-2010 06:21 AM

They have only had a few hundred invites go out, my gosh, until the board approves the number for next year, it is going to be WIA, OBAP, Military and well qualified civvies. No surprise there. Look at what guys are getting called at, then look at the NWA poolies that have gotten called, their qualifications match the rest of the market getting called at that time. If you do not meet that level at that given time, I would suspect that is why you are not getting called.

NWAPoolie 07-23-2010 07:08 AM

Pic time or military time does not make the best pilot. I am very good at flying and have several awards and recs to prove it. Just because I was the victim of a stagnet economy and did not get pic time I am for some reason not qualified. Suggestion how about a challenging sim evaluation? Perhaps some points for integrity too. Yah I am ****ed acl. Even though I should have been hired in 08 I am now supposed to wait so I can be at the bottom of the list for years to come because I am not military or lucky enough to walk into a rj hiring boom. I don't even care if they call anymore these hiring games are pure politics not a true search for the best. Btw i am big supporter of mil pilots and their service should be respected.

NWAPoolie 07-23-2010 07:14 AM

Oh ya I was good enough for an lcc, a major, a regional, a small bus operator, turned down jobs at 2 regionals, emirates and netjets. Most with tougher interview processes then dal but not good enough. I probably have more valuble airline experience then most hired. I gambled chasing my dream job at nwa giving up a great job but that means nothing. Yah i am steaming mad. Lots of great folks getting hired but my background and poolie status should have meant something.

Bluto 07-23-2010 07:26 AM

Your experience matters. Your attitude matters more. Sorry you hit a rough patch, but from your posts here, it sounds like you might not be a good match for Delta. I'm sure another airline will recognize your exceptional qualifications. Good luck. And if you do get the interview, I'd lose that chip on your shoulder quick.

I have been applying to Delta since 2006 I have 6200tt, 2500 jet pic, multiple internal recomendations and I have never recieved a phone call from Delta but this is still my dream job and I am looking forward to a chance to interview. My point is just because you have been delt a bum deal don't give up on your dream and loose the chip, life isn't always fair.. Good Luck!!

viper548 07-23-2010 07:50 AM

Nwapoolie,
yes, it sucks we didn't get called. The fact is we were offered a job by NWA and NWA is no longer calling the shots. Delta doesn't owe us anything and the email we got from NWA said if we want to work there we need to apply to delta. Your posts come across pretty bad and that won't do anything other than **** off some people that can guarantee you won't get a call. We are in a very small group. It wouldn't be that hard for someone to figure out who you are.

NWAPoolie 07-23-2010 08:10 AM

Your wrong. I don't have a bad attitude if I did I would not have the recs or been offered several opportunities. Your viewpoint would be much different from the outside if you were not at dal.

NWAPoolie 07-23-2010 08:20 AM

No one said anything about being entitled if was simple refering to a comment by acl. Paraphrasing his comment acl stated that poolies with competitive numbers were getting called. My opinion was that a military background or 3000 tpic does not make someone a better pilot. People with 6000 hrs and 4000 pic turbine were in some cases beneficiaries of not only good pilot skills but also perfect timing. The fact that dal went after a merger with nwa they had a large role in derailing my career. Perhaps they should have looked at my background and that of others in the nwa pool who don't meet some arbitrary numbers or military connection. Dal knows full well without their takeover of nwa all the poolies would be flying at nwa today.

Sim eval would be a good start. One of my interviews the sharpest guy was a military c5 guy but the 2 that bombed were military with 6000 plus hours a10 and I think the other was a kc135. I know my opinion means nothing and I only speak for myself not other poolies.

Dont worry, you have the right to be mad and frustrated. This is a public forum and you are only "HUMAN".

You will get what you want! Whether it be Delta or some other Dream Job. My suggestion is: Try to block out this forum and news of people getting hired or interviewed. It will only frustrate you more.

After you have "blocked" all sources of frustration, BE DILIGENT and continue to apply, network and talk to people that can be of help.

Remember, these facts of life, there will always be somebody:
more senior to you
better looking than you
and richer than you

Once you know these principles go get the job that will make your own life BETTER! Go get it!!

Good luck, not that you need it. I think you will succeed.

TYG
