Check company information. From what was posted in one of the company magazines, phone calls, walk-ins were prohibited and not being accepted.
This of course can change and you should ask someone (chief pilot?) who knows for sure. Don't screw your buddy by doing something that you shouldn't. |
That's great news! Did you get the invite via email/phone? Got my fingers crossed.

When is the first interview dates?
Thanks |
I just received an email telling me to update My Addendum section because I didnt check anything for the Yellow Fever vaccination, doh!! I hope I dont get bounced out for that.
|
Yah I got that message too. I wonder since they are interviewing if they have made any sort of decision on the nwa poolie. Thanks again to all the dal pilots.
|
I know for a fact a NWA poolie got an email for interview yesterday. FWIW
|
I would not worry about the Yellow Fever shot if you do not have it.
I would not expect an Official word on the poolies. Just wait for a e-mail invite. I know two pilots that got e-mails last night. Both are very qualified. |
Can anyone tell me more about the "affiliates" section of the application and how that is transmitted to the pilot hiring team?
Also, I heard preferential interviews are being given to those who had their classes canceled last time. |

Anyone know the DOH of the junior guy on the list?

All it's asking you to do is note yes or no based on: "I acknowledge that I have read this requirement:"

I beleive the most junior pilot of the DAL list is a May 2008 hire.
|
good luck, also keeping my fingers crossed

Just poolies with class dates or all poolies? There are not many from what I know.
|
I know of no former DAL or NWA poolies that have gotten a letter.
|
From someone's SEA base meeting notes that are circulating it mentioned those that had had their class dates canceled.
I wouldn't take that as the final word though. I'm sure more will be revealed through people posts on here than will ever show up as "official word" ( was actually surprised to hear something was mentioned at all). |

You ever think that they may not be an "Official" decision, but just interview offers? Think legally. That is as far as I will lead you down the path.
Just my .02 no more no less. |
anybody know more about the affiliates section? Does it carry weight?
|
If it is in there it carries weight.
|
OK think of it this way:
It is like the application to one of the service academies, and your LOR's are like Senators pushing for one of their constituents' children to get accepted. It all matters, right down to how you construct each and every sentence. It mattes. Perfect is an understatement. |

Hope so! Any idea what the chances of an interview are without an internal rec? AL |

Any word on if those of us who were unsuccessful in the interview (panel) will get another shot? I'm not holding my breath, but I am keeping my stuff updated.
|
Any interview dates yet?

Historically no. It may change this time around but it used to be you could fail the technical portion and come back for another interview after 12 months. However, the panel interview used to be an all or nothing deal. Keep yourself updated as you never know if they will change this.

Cinco De Mayo of Ocho Cinco (may 5 '08) to be exact. For those asking about internal recs - I was invited to interview without having one last go-around. I did however, get one on file prior to the actual interview date. I was towards the end of the cycle, though - I would imagine that those with internals would be more likely to get calls first. As things open up, guys without one will have a better shot than they do now. I believe the app is scored - so many points for total time, jet PIC, Advanced degrees, GPA's, internal recs, etc. I'm sure each "scorring collumn" is probably weighted too - so that say a masters degree doesn't give as many points as say 3000 jet PIC. But I believe it is total score that lands you the invite - and highest scores get invited first. So guys that have a ton Jet PIC, type ratings, Doctorates, 4.0 GPA's, and Line check experience could be getting an email now without an internal rec. I again, I BELIEVE thats how it works. I don't have any inside info - just things that have been said in the past. |

Can you check with your sources on this. In my V-file, there was an article about us hiring .. blah blah. At the very end, it said that the hiring team will NOT accept resume or applications walk-ins or phone calls. Applicants will need to use the AirlineApps website and use your delta.com address for a recommendation. To clarify, can we walk a resume in? Or should we just have them apply and submit a letter of recommendation through the website? |
A few days ago, someone that I recommended was sent a letter asking him to update his work history/flying times.
We looked at his work history and he had a year gap (typo) between two military units. Also, his PIC and SIC did not add up along with his day/night total. He fixed it right away. For the USAF guys, make sure your PIC and SIC add up to your day/night ... turbine ..etc. The computer must flag this. Shortly after fixing his application, he was called for an interview. 3400TT military (some civilian) 3000 Heavy 2000 PIC |
They apparently prefer to have the active pilots receive the LOR request at their Delta.com email, however it then directs them to a website form so not sure how they are tracking the delta.com email addy's. I have two internal recs from active pilots, one used their delta.com and the other did not. I have another two internal recs from Delta retired pilots, one being my father but not sure how they are getting weighted. I wish there was more of a process for immediate family member recommendations to get recognized. I'm hoping the affiliates section will help resolve this concern. Although I'm low on the competitive time average, I'm still hoping for a shot.
