Also, to all the hopefuls out there. Most know this but it's "Delta Air Lines" 3 words, not Delta Airlines. Don't be the next in a long string of folks to goof that one up.
Just another friendly reminder to go over the entire app with a fine tooth comb. Details such as these will make a difference. |
I'm surprised I got the invite. Actually I'm still in shock

You are proof positive that there is not a "type" of qualifications that they only hire. It is self evident that you need to submit your stuff and keep on working at networking. |

That's my take too.
To Mesabah, I believe the question on the App has a box to check if you were a Delta intern. I believe my friend is checking that box, and then elaborating in the "comments" box that it was actually NWA, etc. The trick is to get your info through the computer filter without appearing misleading. I believe this is probably the best method. I would feel better for his sake and yours, Mesabah, if one of us had the ability to call and ask this question on your behalf. Unfortunately, I've been unable to dig up a name/number as they're purposely staying behind closed doors. I completely understand though as I used to work in a pilot recruiting dept and couldn't imagine having 12000+ pilots calling on behalf of their friends. Good luck Mesabah, and let me know if you've got any other info. Take my point of view with a grain of salt, but I that is my take on the mindset of the pilots that are "Delta" and will be the ones doing the leg work on choosing our future pilots. |

Like I have said, and it is my take. You were a NWA Intern NOT a Delta Intern. Little tricks like this may not seem too cute to those that are filtering though the apps. Just my own personal advice. Just like if you worked for NWA prior to the merger, it is NWA not DAL. If you are working for Airlink, it is now DCI so you are a DCI pilot and that is not mincing facts.

Without doing it this way there is no way (I'm told) to input oneself as a former intern. Obviously he does not want to be perceived as "cute" or "tricking" the recruiters, hence my asking this question. Do you know whom I could contact to get the horse's mouth answer on his behalf as an active DAL pilot. A PM would be great :D Thanks! |
What about legacy's? My old man is a retired NWA pilot. Would you be under the impression that I am not a Delta legacy?
|
Does anyone know how DAL is going to handle those who passed the panel interview but did not pass one of the computerized test in 08? I was advised by the 08 hiring staff that they bring you right back in after six month (if still hiring) for a preferential interview and to retake the tests. Any thoughts?

Heard in the lounge yesterday that they are planning on all returnees back in August, total of 300 by end of the year.
Also, planning on 60 a month indefinitely. Anyone heard that last part about the 60/mo ? Just passin a rumor.. that's it. |

I haven't actually seen the app, but from what he tells me there is no box to check for "NWA intern" only "Delta intern". After you check that box, apparently another box appears allowing him to elaborate that he was not actually a Delta intern, but a NWA intern.

If you are referring to the DAL Addendum section, you are correct. I did not intern at DAL but did at another carrier, I just put it in the normal app as well as put it down as a job under career advancement. I do not know who you should call. My guess is they will read your post and then correct it! Who knows really. I just know that putting items that are not factually correct but "true" can lead to some questions. Is it the end of the world no, but the only things I every put in the DAL addendum related to DAL specifically at the time of the event. Edit!! I would call your CP and follow the chain of command up. Ask him/her a question and see where they direct you or what response you get. They know who to call and can call the Hiring Dept directly for a correct interpretation. |
Got a buddy interviewing Weds. around 4000 hrs military. Good dude.

Yeah, I heard that exact number in 2001!
Remember 2001 was after DL had been hiring like gangbusters for 5 years. We've had a 2 (and change) year break from hiring now. Big difference. |
Does anyone have some links to the gouge for the tests?
I know there is some gouge in the Latest and Greatest .. but finding that information is a nightmare. |

NW is Delta. You are in fact a legacy. Remember the CAPTs doing the interviews will be both flavors, North and South. Scoop |

DAL Medical
What do the Docs look for in the DAL medical? If I have a condition which the FAA already has record of, but which does not limit my ability to hold a First Class with no restriction, could it still be a problem? Or are they looking for the possibility that you have been hiding (or don't know) about a condition?
Thanks |

Didn't hear the 60/month but did hear today that if things continue as expected we will be looking at being in the same situation next year that we are in this year. Meaning another 300 or so mid to late next year for summer 2012 flying. Either way more bodies here is a good thing!! |

Thanks And I felt like it delayed me for two weeks and I'd miss an earlier class but in truth I was in class with everyone I was hired with. |

Regarding the Yellow Fever issue, where on the 22 section DAL addendum does it address this? Or is it in another section?
Thanks |
The medical is a standard medical. Hippa laws only allow DAL to get a "yes," or a "no."
They have you do a hearing test, a few eye tests, some fasting blood sugar test, cough left and right, ekg, etc. Like I said, it is a normal initial work or annual physical. If you have a medical waver for something, or it has been cleared with OKC, bring the paperwork and save yourself the time with doing it later. |
It is something that just states, that you acknowledge that you will get the shot prior to starting at DAL.
Disclaimer: I have not seen it, just what I have been told. |

Real simple:
Qualifications and connections get you though the door, but you are the only one that can get yourself the job. |
FWIW, in late 2007 it was 8 days from Day 2 of my interview to the OK to train, then I was in the 3rd class from that point.
I think folks like 80ktsclamp got the OK TO TRAIN letter during their second week of indoc. So in the beginning its very different then when hiring stabilizes. |
I never got an OK to train letter, haha... I wonder if I was ever actually hired? :)
|
I did not know there was an OK to train letter, I thought it was an "OK to train" status that the hiring department gave you. You were then offered the "opportunity" for employment as a first officer.
