When I interviewed early in the last cycle, the minimum to trigger a call was 1500 TPIC unless there was something extenuating (like a inter-company transfer).

There is no official TPIC minimum.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I have it on good authority that DAL does not exactly like the idea of a flow through and I would guess that there will be a push on behalf of the company to eliminate it in 2012.

just my 2 cents...........

Its way too early to throw in the towel:

1. You were called before - so you have "something" DAL is looking for.
2. The hiring is just starting and may be substantial.
3. Yeah, I too would be bummed too if I had the carpet pulled out from under me but hang tough. Remember it is adversity that tests us and makes us appreciate success.

Good Luck and hang in there! Also, I agree with the previous posters about having a move positive outlook. I know its hard now, but I don't imagine it will be too hard when you get the call. :)

Scoop et al,

Thanks for the help from all of the DAL and f/NWA folks. I think all of the "poolies" are holding our collective breaths. I am and we'll see what happens. But I'd like to add not all of us are ready to throw in the towel and actually understand that if we don't get the call there are good reasons for things being the way they are. I know the folks at DAL have our names and I'm checking my email inbox regularly:D

I didn't get it either and that's why I was asking. I too changed it on my own.

acl65pilot 06-20-2010 06:52 AM

I think that we all should just take a breath, realize that we have a very qualified applicant pool here at DAL. Let the hiring dept do their jobs. Working ones self up about this effects no one but you. It is like pouring poison in your throat hopping to kill your enemy. In the end it only effects you.

We have some great days ahead of us. Do some interview prep, keep the app updated, and network, network, network.

I did not receive the email either, however I did not make it past the panel interview in '08. Maybe the email only went out to candidates that are currently being considered? In '08 I received an email to update a specific part of my online application, and the next day I received the invite to interview....FWIW. Good luck to all! (and maybe those that didn't pass the panel will get another chance!)

Hey do not forget to check your SPAM folders. It may be sitting in there. Ya'll may be worry about nothing. :D

Yahoo especially likes to file Airlineapps emails as spam.

acl65pilot 06-20-2010 07:43 AM

Ergo, my point. Just check quite often. I find some very important things in all of my spam folders. AOL does not like it, Gmail does not like it, so either trust the airline apps e-mail root or keep checking.

atpcliff 06-20-2010 08:22 AM

Hi!

I got the email to update, and I was not selected back in 1991.

I didn't pass the panel in '08, but did receive the e-mail to update my app. Who knows?

So the "we're in the early stages of putting the hiring crew together" comment isn't really accurate if interviews are tomorrow.

PilotFrog 06-21-2010 07:35 AM

Anyone have any gouge on the new exam? I know in 08 the technical exam was changed and the pool of questions was signifcantly expanded. Anyone have information on that? Or how to practice for the aptitude test?

hi liog.....just curious - are you referring to the nwa poolies with classes canceled or those that had scheduled delta interviews but were canceled?

hopefully it's both!

thanks

I was a guy who had a scheduled interview canceled and I haven't gotten a invite yet.

Think I should send an email and ask if I should re-apply?

sailingfun 06-21-2010 07:56 AM

I understand they have moved the entire hiring process up and are now talking about increasing the numbers. I think originally they did not plan on a class until Sep. Looks like early Aug now.

acl65pilot 06-21-2010 08:08 AM

Sounds about right Sailing :D

Why don't you post the new numbers

acl65pilot 06-21-2010 08:10 AM

I say call em and see what they say.

You got BRASS ONE's El heffe!

Call the number on the invite or is there another one?

bull 06-21-2010 08:19 AM

Anyone know who is getting interviews (background, hours, etc)?

acl65pilot 06-21-2010 08:40 AM

I am sure there is not a "type," or level of quals. That is not the way DAL does it.

Some say there is a point system that is attached to the app, but no one know what that means. The ones I am aware of are all "well" qualified.

With 8000hrs including 2500 JET PIC, 7 years of college including 4 at ERAU, and currently flying medium equipment on domestic/intnl routes with a clean record, I'm not hearing a peep.

In this environment, I'm not sure what consitutes "well" qualified anymore.

I'm now just hoping to be "well" lucky.

Heard in the lounge yesterday that they are planning on all returnees back in August, total of 300 by end of the year.

Also, planning on 60 a month indefinitely.

Anyone heard that last part about the 60/mo ?

Just passin a rumor.. that's it.

acl65pilot 06-21-2010 09:02 AM

That "rumor" has been around for at least two months. It is a rumor because it is best guess.

I just know that you do not put the expense in to a hiring dept for 300 pilots. That is just my dot connecting.

I agree 100%. I've been hearing the 60+ a month for next year and going indefinitely from then on. As far as this year goes my prediction is at least 400. The 305 was their conservative number ;)

Don't want to be misleading, but he technically did not intern with Delta. Also, don't want him to lose out on an opportunity to play one of his cards.

ACL, Sailing or anyone else, whaddya think?

Mesabah, have you found an answer to your question yet?

Is there anyone for current DAL pilots to call to find out answers to questions such as these. PM me if you have any contact info, as I'm sure they don't want their phone numbers/names out on this board.

Thanks!

Simple. Be honest, factually correct and you have nothing to worry about.

NWA Internship

DCI carrier.

Former NWA employee as you were not a DAL intern or Employee.

That's my take too.

To Mesabah, I believe the question on the App has a box to check if you were a Delta intern. I believe my friend is checking that box, and then elaborating in the "comments" box that it was actually NWA, etc. The trick is to get your info through the computer filter without appearing misleading. I believe this is probably the best method.

I would feel better for his sake and yours, Mesabah, if one of us had the ability to call and ask this question on your behalf. Unfortunately, I've been unable to dig up a name/number as they're purposely staying behind closed doors. I completely understand though as I used to work in a pilot recruiting dept and couldn't imagine having 12000+ pilots calling on behalf of their friends. Good luck Mesabah, and let me know if you've got any other info.
