I guess I got lucky hang in there. JFK would be perfect for me. It would only be a 20 minute drive to work. I still don't have an interview just did the phone screening, so still more waiting.

From what it sounds like most new hires will be filling the JFK base. I have a Sept 27th class date set up. And I am around 3200 TT all mutli turbine.
However I talked to Mesaba guys that were in the hotel doing new hire training, and they all got to pick there base choice. They were told they have vacencies pretty much at every base they have. not sure how long that will last though.
Can anyone give me any input as to training. Like how many days , where is it held. Do I need a car while I am in training ?? Or would it be nice to have one? Also how soon do we get badges to start jumpseating???? Or am I stuck in MEM till training is over??? just trying to get a feal for the next two months.
thanks in advanced for anyone who can lay it down for me.
PS , for all those who are going to interview I posted something on willflyforfood.com and aviationinterviews.com to help out. Good luck to all those going for it.

Unless it has changed, you will be a better off with a car in Memphis.
Training is 8-10 weeks depending on scheduling sims, holidays, etc. At the completion of your checkride/sim eval, you will get a company ID and then you can jumpseat. The last new hires went to any base they wanted, but Atlanta. It will probably be a couple of years before that base opens up again.
As a side note, unless you know someone, minimums probably won't get you a phone call unless more majors/nationals start hiring.
Good luck and remember, it's just a job.

man being stuck in that hotel for 8 weeks without being able to jumpseat home atleast once is murder... oh well.
Most airlines that I can recall get you a company ID on day 2 of training.
