I was hoping that since Pinnacle was picking up Mesaba furloughs, they might also re-examine poolies.

Has anyone in a similar situation received a call or email, "Dear John" or otherwise?

Thanks in advance; a buddy of mine is a senior FO at Mesaba and indicated be thought there were good things to come for the three companies since the mergers/acquisitions...I took his advice and applied, but haven't heard any news since (It's been nine days).

I was hired in 2008 but they stopped hiring before I made it to ground school (it was a matter of about two weeks). At the time, I met the minimums, but now I'm a bit short of the new 1000/200. I re-applied when the openings were posted and never heard back. Then I saw they were having a flight attendant open house near me in NY so I went there just to speak to someone and see what the deal was. I was told to re-apply when I met the minimums, even though I had been hired before. I guess what I'm saying is don't hold your breath on hearing back. I literally had to attend an open house for flight attendants and sit through about four hours of it before they heard back from the pilot recruiter. Either way, best of luck to you.

Pinnacle drained their own pool, so I doubt they'll honor any XJ poolies. In fact, I'm not sure if they'll even take on the guys that were in the pool who are working as crew schedulers unless they re-apply and meet the new minimums.

any idea how much hiring is going on at pinnacle? anyone have an interview scheduled?

junior bases?
where is training and how long?
paid during training?

im sitting at 1515 TT and 170 ME... shouldnt take but a couple more weeks to hit the 200 requirement. I'm not that anxious to leave my 135 freight company. I'm just trying to find out more info. Havent heard too much about Pinnacle as a company.. just the new stuff on who they bought and the things listed on APC.

Kinda hard to gauge right now. So many FO openings, the guys in class now are pretty much getting nearly what they want. We've had guys go to four of the five bases, and maybe even a couple managed to get ATL, I'm not sure. Traditionally, DTW had been junior, but I'd guess that JFK is likely gonna wind up being the junior base when the dust settles.

Memphis, and it depends on how on the ball training scheduling is. Ground is two weeks, then about a week of FTDs and 10 sims with an oral and checkride tossed in. It was 2 months and 1 week for me back in 06.

Unless things have changed, you get a dual occupancy hotel room and a fixed amount every two weeks. I don't know what the amount is off the top of my head.

We were paid $200 a week for the entire time we were in training. (2006-07)

I have spoken with 2 crewmembers that are on the hiring committee these last few days. They said they are hiring full steam until further notice, they said they wouldnt be surprised if it kept going like this till the end of the year. Only fifty-something mesaba furloughs agreed to come to 9E, so they are bringing "everybody they can get" from the streets that meet the minimum requirements...

I know in the middle of the week they were conducting interviews at the CEC on off the street guys...

And for whatever is worth, back in 2008 they payed us $400 a week during training...

tennisguru 08-27-2010 06:50 AM

I know that the Mesaba guys that just went through were getting paid guarantee. Don't know if that will be the case for anyone hire off the street though.

KentSt22 08-27-2010 07:30 AM

So what are the published mins??

Flitestar 08-27-2010 07:35 AM

Last I heard 1000 TT & 200 ME ...

rightside02 08-27-2010 05:47 PM

I interviewed with them yesterday in Memphis, got the call today and was offered the Job...:)

From what I could tell everyone who interviewed with us had personal recommendations or some helpful way in....

11 of us interviewed and I know 4 people so far that didnt make it. sadly enough, everyone with us seemed like great guys.

Just because someone is a great guy doesn't mean he should be hired (but I would buy him a drink to drown his sorrows).

they are doing interviews right now, but as I could tell , all of us that were there had someone on the inside helping recommend us and I believe thats how we all got the chance to interview. I am not sure if they even publicly made it know they want to hire.

nols899 08-29-2010 05:51 AM

Hey Rightside,

Any chance you could PM me about your interview experience. I have one coming up next week. If not a public gouge would be fine if you want. Thanks in advance

Yeah I think their website says they are hiring as well as airline apps. That's how I found out.

nols899 08-30-2010 04:10 AM

Anyone have a recent gouge from the last couple weeks of hiring? It would be helpful as he most recent i've been able to find goes back to 2008.

Thanks

What are the schedules like? Are you able to commute to the west coast with the schedules?

You will be on RSV with a 1.5hr callout or Ready Reserve (at the airport) when you start. You will have 10 days off/month=2 days at a time/week typically. If you commute to the left coast, you will be commuting home on one of your days off and back on your other day off UNLESS you can get a FedEx flight where you can fly out late your last day of work and back the night before your first day. IOW, it's gonna be tough. No long call (maybe one day). It's anybody's guess how long you'll be on rsv...we have guys at 2+ years on rsv now and that could go up or down depending on hiring at the major level. In short, it isn't something I'd personally want to do (especialy if you have a family), but you've gotta make that decision. Are you open to moving?

Ramprat 08-30-2010 10:09 AM

Anyone know about how many more classes they are going to shoot for this year?

Word is they intend to keep the hiring going even if it means just a class of six/month. It has been too costly and time consuming to get the training department up and running after being essentially shut down for the last two years.

rightside02 08-30-2010 02:36 PM

Hey nols899, I tried to PM you but didnt work, it says your not recieving ant messages , check your account and I ll give you my number to just call me, a heck of a lot easier that way. Good luck and congrats on the phone call.

nols899 08-30-2010 03:25 PM

I agree...where should I check to check my account? I haven't posted enough times I guess. Not sure how we get in touch...tomorrow would be great if you got a minute for a phone call...nols

I coummute to the west to DTW. You will only get about 5-6 days at home, since you will have to use your days off to commute to base unless you get late reserve the first day. I hold 18 days with weekends and holidays off. So commuting to the west coast is not an issue for me.

I wouldnt really worry about that... after intergration its gonna be a whole new ball game... I think it could be many years of resv.

Right now to get a schld like that... 4 years as an FO 8 to 10 for Capts.

Oh don't worry, we aren't integrating for a long time. Before that happens, the MECs of Colgan, Mesaba, and Pinnacle are going to have to be given a contract from the clowns running Pinnacle Corp. Before that happens, the MEC of 9E wants to have a contract for us (9E), or at least an LOA giving the 9E pilots more pay. The company isn't going to give the 9E pilots any LOAs:eek: Just more drama around here and nothing worth getting excited about.

The company can take integration and go shove it if they don't show some "good faith" and LOA a few things.

For those of you new hires: Congratulations and welcome to Pinnacle:)

Is there an updated interview gouge published somewhere?

nols899 08-31-2010 06:26 AM

I'm not holding my breathe on any kind of LOA for us at 9E. Once the clock starts ticking on the 45 days and talks on the integrated contract, I'm not sure how much energy is gonna be put into getting any kind of interim deal for 9E. I'd imagine we'll be waiting for the integrated contract before we see anything.

Well if we have to wait for an integrated contract, my guess is we'll be waiting for several more years. This company has absolutely ZERO incentive to give us anything:(

Mid-Late 06 DOH. Which put us at about the top 30 in DTW

Coehill 08-31-2010 05:37 PM

I'm an XJ furlough, I never applied to Pinnacle during the initial hiring. I'm curious what everyone has heard as far as classes this fall, and into the winter. I'm working under contract until Oct 31st so I'm just curious if I could get into a class after that.

If you are an XJ furlough you should have been contacted by your MSA (XJ) MEC/furlough committee. There is an MOU for a job placement for furloughs with no interview and full credit for your longevity.

Yes I was contacted,

What I'm curious about is the projected classes for the remainder of the year. My contract finishes Oct 31st. The MEC said Pinnacle was only going to hire around 60ish by the end of the year, just wondering if anyone has heard if classes will be going into December.

I think that offer has come and gone. Either you took it or you didn't. Last I heard we were going to start hiring off the street as not enough XJ guys took the offer to fill the needed seats.

The MOU is in effect until july 1, 2011 if I remember the dates correctly (I know it wasn't a "only immediate" type thing). Contact your contact at XJ and you should be able to get in contact with 9E HR and put in for a class starting AFTER Oct. 31. Don't hold me to it, but I don't see this being a huge stumbling block for anything but seniority at 9E and total longevity.

Well I can understand that too. At my small company we have had guys on reserve for years too. Just bad timing for guys who got hired around 2007. They told me in the interview they want 65 guys as soon as possible and more to come after that. So who knows , this business has ups and downs

KentSt22 09-07-2010 09:44 AM

those of you who have interviewed, what were your flight times?

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 07:15 AM.
