How is the schedule normaly? Everyday during your 2 on, from sunrise to sunset or something

I haven't received anything from Erin either, but here is what I've pieced together from talking to a number of people that work or have worked for Hageland in the past.

Ground school is typically 5 days, Monday through Friday, with sims following on Saturday and Sunday, and then you go home for a bit before flight training. I believe ground school is in Anchorage with the sims at UAA, while flight training will be done at a base, most likely Bethel. Plan to airline yourself to ANC by Sunday night, and we should have our crew badges and be enrolled in CASS by the end of ground school so we can jumpseat home.

Javichu 04-19-2017 03:21 PM

Thanks for sharing. I hope it doesn't take too long between sims and the flight portion!

I have checked my email more times this week than the last 5 years combined 😂. Also 200ish a day? Is that 208fo pay or B1900FO, or are they the same? Can't wait to get up to AK and do some real flying.

Javichu 04-19-2017 03:26 PM

Chief pilot told me $209/day when I asked

Oh yea everyday. It's 135 duty days so can't exceed 14 hrs and 8hrs single pilot flying or 10 hrs 2 crew. There's no sunrise or sunset rules in Alaska it's all based on civil twilight. Usually a 730am to 930pm duty day.

Javichu 04-19-2017 03:58 PM

Nothing like going to bed after hardwork decently paid!.
70-80h per shift must be easily doable then

I'm not to familiar with FO pay but not that long ago it was 45/day so can't really complain about the new numbers. 1900 was 175 but I think every FO is at that 200-210/day number. If you have 500 hours send a resume to grant and you will make more from the start as a PIC and get to log PIC time. Plus they won't drag you along to get a ground school

Javichu 04-19-2017 04:00 PM

510h yeah. I tried like 10 times with Grant and not a word. And hageland followed up and hired me, what can I say :)

All depends I hit 120 one shift and in the same shift some guys only got 30 so just show you will work hard and not complain about every little detail. Guys would complain about how many hours they had to work and I would step in and ask to take their routes and the assistant chief always gave them to me. So keep your nose clean, don't ***** and work hard and you'll get a ton of hours. I was a 207 driver so not sure about SIC. The Barrow base gets you the most hours. Every flight is long and many guys max out 10 hours every day up there.

Javichu 04-19-2017 04:07 PM

That's awesome!!. I'm the quiet type of guy, and a shinny nose, so I hope it works out good for me.

That's crazy I wonder why. I have sent 5 guys there who all were called just hours after submitting a resume. And every person who I know applied at Hageland never heard a thing lol. Weird world.

Javichu 04-19-2017 04:09 PM

Lol. I guess we all have a destiny, go figure

Will we get known crewmember as well? Anyone commuting from the Detroit area?

Ramen 04-20-2017 07:07 AM

They are working on KCM. If you want to wear the monkey suit with epaulets, you can go through the Pre-check line with your crew badge.

I'll be commuting from Phoenix.

Radio 04-20-2017 07:47 AM

I'll be commuting from the North East (Yeah I know, good luck to me).

How about bags, are you planning to use only carry on 22'' or gate checking a bigger size ?

Javichu 04-20-2017 07:49 AM

I almost feel lucky with a 5.5h nonstop flight haha

JulietSierra89 04-20-2017 08:39 AM

Yea I got a day event... DTW-ORD-ANC. I don't know what I'm doing bag wise, I figured after we get our bases we can leave a bunch of clothes up there. So the only thing I will be hiking back and forth is food and other supplies...

JulietSierra89 04-20-2017 09:23 AM

i should have asked more questions during the interview... Do we get EFB's?

Ramen 04-20-2017 10:11 AM

Guys I've talked to say they usually keep 1 or 2 storage containers in the pilot house with bedding, winter clothes, dry food, etc that you don't need on your 2 weeks off. Then you commute with a standard suitcase and maybe another storage container to bring in groceries from home or ANC that are too expensive to get in the village. My current suitcase is a piece of garbage so I was thinking of investing in the luggageworks bag for this hellish commute, but I get the impression that you'll look out of place if you show up with one. AS lets you check 2 free bags in you're jumpseating, so you can check you storage container as a bag so you don't have to carry your groceries around with you through SEA and ANC lol.

Javichu 04-20-2017 10:42 AM

1 or 2 storage containers will do haha. I already pictured myself like a gipsy dragging my stuff through the airport twice a month haha

I really hope we get some more information soon so we can start making plans. May 15th isn't that far off.

Javichu 04-20-2017 11:27 AM

I say tomorrow afternoon.

They are expecting us to pay for our hotel during the week of training at $200/night.

If anyone is interested in getting an airbnb and splitting the cost, PM me. We're all going to be living together in base, so it can't hurt to get started early haha!

Javichu 04-21-2017 04:35 PM

Oooh shiiiit, I hope that's for a single occupancy room haha. But I agree, should I get the famous email, I'm ok getting an airbnb. We're gonna be roommates forever anyways

Javichu 04-21-2017 04:51 PM

I am down to split a room or whatever, I can sleep on the floor. I am not high maintenance :)

Ramen 04-21-2017 05:00 PM

Quick apology to anyone that sent me a PM the last few weeks! I just figured out where the inbox is and saw I had a few unread.
