In exchange we get a guaranteed interview at Alaska, a 3% bonus based on 2013 wages if we remain with the company through that year (which ends up being less than a normal paycheck after taxes) and Captains with more than 12 years who go to AS get a bonus to help transition.
This proposal is just a rotted baby carrot being dangled in our face.

....unless your endgame at QX is to move up to AS....
I could see how this TA would be a slap in the face for QX-4-lifers, but for the guys who wanna get the "H-E-Double Hockey Stick" out of there at some point in their life, it's not a bad deal. I could see this being voted in by the younger pilots...but the majority at QX have been there for 10+ years, and will probably shoot it the F$!# down. Idk, I would think at least SOME of the 40-something CA's who have been there for 15+ years would take the bonus and peace out. Every disgruntled CA I flew with said "I can't afford year 1 pay at AS", well this is your chance. Granted, the bonus isn't much, but at least it's your way to not be stuck at QX for another 15-20 years. JMHO
Bottom line, you guys deserve BOTH the AS hiring agreement and at least a Cost of Living Adjustment to your pay rates. If that doesn't work, at least with this TA you'd have a way out.
Could the "Force Majeur" clause allow AS to farm out more flying to SKYW?

The problem is it isn't a guaranteed position at AS, only an interview. I might consider this if it were a flow through, but the other issue is this is only supposed to be about pay rates and now the company wants to renogotiate other sections of our contract in this TA as well, all for a guaranteed interview, which guarantees nothing.
As for what defines the force majeur and what the consequences would be, who knows. Just another proposal full of weak and vague language to be interpreted however they choose.
Just another slap in the face from a company that says we're already overpaid, yet our new CEO received $2,768,770.00 last year. How many other airline CEO's make that much? FUPM!

I thought we already had a letter regarding hiring from QX.
Alaska can terminate the interviews at any time which would allow the Union to take pay to baseball style arbitration. Is the company that worried about arbitration or are they confident we would fall for it. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
Lets vote this one down 100%!

We agreed to a new contract in December, the only section the two sides couldn't agree on was pay rates. The company and union were scheduled to go to baseball style arbitration next month. Mgmt. released their proposal in hopes of avoiding the arbitration. Basically, they want us to maintain the current pay rates (which were negotiated in 2001 and will be lower than Colgan in a few years), increase our monthly medical costs, impose more restricitions on our scheduling section and add a "force majeur" clause that will let them amend our agreement in the event of some catastrophe or "new competitive threat".
