What's happening at Horizon and Jets?
#1921
This is what I was talking about last winter. This is what it looks like when the wheels come off of the wagon. It will only get worse over the summer. Pulling crews offline to train them, either for upgrade or transition only aggravates the problem. Training needed to be done in the spring to prepare for summer schedules.
At this point, how can you recover? You folks are in a bad way.

This "perfect storm" that was forecasted years ago and management didn't lift a finger to address it despite our pilot group and industry experts warning them what was on the horizon.
I'm really hoping a certain VP of flight ops gets replaced; that would truly be Christmas in July.

"Being in the airline business, you and I know all too well that traveling often means packing plenty of patience. Things can change on a dime or plans just go horribly wrong. How you choose to respond determines the outcome. For Horizon’s most recent journey that began with Commit to Compete, June will go down as our “bump in the road” – our moment when things got too far off track, and now, we must decide how to recover and still get where we’re trying to go."

Alaskas requirements for Horizon pilots
Can someone please tell me what Alaska wants from Horizon pilots to interview. I am under the impression that they want you to have 121 pic time? Is this correct or is 135 turbine pic acceptable? Thanks

At least 2000 hours of Horizon time is what I've heard in the past. People with a lot of previous 121 time were allowed to burn their guaranteed interview with 0% chance of being hired because they didn't meet the "horizon minimums." 121 PIC is still king pretty much anywhere, but beyond that I think it depends on how much you can wow the Alaska HR team.
