Here are the seniority numbers for roughly 50% in base for FOs:
Your seniority will increase much faster as a 190 FO compared to the same base 320 FO
Code:
JFK 190 3110 BOS 190 2940 JFK 320 2678 MCO 190 2392 BOS 320 2387 FLL 320 2309 LGB 320 2003 MCO 320 1812

Seems like the other way around recently. Movement for JFK 190 has all but stopped. Maybe a little better in BOS now.

Untill the E190 guys come off the 2 year seatlock pushing down those with 2 years of seniority or less.

There were 29 E190 newhires in march '16, quite a few in April, and many went to JFK. Some had no reserve in the March class. Once the glut of newhires came to backfill the massive number of transitions to the 320, that filled the immediate vacancy issue (and kind of resulted in good/over? staffing, as I had 2 PRLs most months on reserve and a lot of LCR-REL). Then movement slowed. I flew 8-20 hours on reserve each month. That trend will likely continue cyclically...most of the E190 guys I know hired in the last year plus will jump to the bus as our seniority will be decent enough over there. Then the movement will be back in the E190. In march and April alone there were almost 50 newhires in the 190, many of whom will get the 320 on the December system bid and be on the line in Mar/Apr 18. So just because the movement has stopped recently, I think there will be a bunch of movement on the 190 again in the next 12 months. And any of these guys hired in the last year will have a bunch of us move in over them on the Bus.
Bottom line...just bc the growth is on the bus, a lot of newhires have been going to the bus, and movement has slowed on the 190, doesn't mean in 6-12 months that will still be the case. If I got hired now I'd opt for the 190, as redeye/island turns, endless reserve, and a bunch of 2 year guys bidding in and over me, isn't all that appealing. I see the schedules of my bus friends in my crashpad...no thanks. Pay is the same first year, and a line holder on the 190 will make more than a reserve 320 FO most likely until a (crappy) line can be held, including in the 2nd year. To each his own.

We haven't taken an E190 delivery since 2013, but the trend continues to favor the E190 for faster seniority progression.

Thats what happened in 2013- I did 1.5 months reserve on the JFK 320 while the BOS 190 guys did almost a year. New guys: Be careful choosing an airplane for QOL- No one knows as it is all best guess.

BOS 190 is probably about 8 months until getting a line right now. I've been here for 6 months, and I'm probably still a couple months away. The good news is that timeframe sitting on reserve goes by quick when you're home almost half the month on LCR...at least IMO.

Do a lot of guys move right at two years? It would seem if you moved ASAP you could hose yourself and be seat locked at upgrade time and have to wait.
I have also heard that a 190 FO can easily make up the pay difference by having a line and or flying just a little extra. At least with the current pay rates.
