First I want to say congratulations to each of who have been selected & awaiting a class date. You've likely worked hard to get to this stage in your career. Second for those of you applying, try to relax and enjoy life while waiting on the call. You can easily be sidelined by the frustratingly long wait with the process here, I wish they'd fix it.
My 1 year anny is next month and I'm still glad I did it. Training was challenging... less than some and maybe more than others but there is help for those with a good attitude and who put forth the effort. The schoolhouse is nice and instructors are awesome. Flying the line is no different. I have yet to fly with anyone who wasn't an incredible human being in some way but mostly personality-wise. Real people. I've read/heard of the occasional contrary type but they must be pretty darn rare here.
This pre-contract environment is dragging on but nothing good comes without effort so I'm looking forward to some measurable gains for the pilot group. Whatever those gains are, they'll never compare to the Legacy terms but JetBlue is NOT one of those carriers and we have plenty of people leaving for them but most reasonable pilots choose their employer by looking at the big picture & not just the contract.
I was in recurrent recently and overheard that the quality of our applicants has taken a nosedive. We can speculate on the nature of a comment like that but for the most part those who come in the door, do so for some kind of good reason.
I'm happy to answer any questions from those who are applying if I can.

Your right, JB is not a legacy, we are MORE profitable. In the case of United and American, a LOT more profitable. Both margin and profit per passenger. In case you missed that, we are a *LOT* more profitable. We also have much less debt, with a balance sheet that is (again) a *LOT* better than all 3 legacies + Alaska.
We also fly a lot more in the middle of the night, you know, like FedEx and UPS pilots. How are middle of the night pilots compensated?
So, we are far *more profitable* and have much better balance sheets than the big 3, why exactly should we not be paid at least equally?
And... besides the contract (and work rules, and pilot retirements, and benefits and retirement contributions), what exactly is this "big picture" you are referring to? Cult? Fluffy emails? Electric potato chips?
I come to work for pay, retirement contributions benefits, and days off (ok, I don't come to work for days off, but you know what I mean), what do you mean by the "big picture" since those things are in contracts and you say we don't choose a company based on "just a contract"???
I am patiently waiting for your reply.

This place was FAR from perfect, but the others weren't hiring and we were much closer to our peers in pay than we are now. Were you here then? Have you been here throughout the significant nose-dive our relative compensation has taken?
Not to mention that we were growing ASMs at roughly 10% a year at the time, with deliveries at approximately 12 per year, scheduled to ramp up to 15 per year while we only had a fleet size of 160 or so aircraft. If you are good at math, compare that to what we are doing now and what our current (revised much lower) delivery schedule is relative to our current fleet size (and our current ASM growth).
EVERYTHING has gotten worse in my time here. Everything.
I recommend you not judge me based on *your* experience alone.
